My life took some turned so fast that I wasn't even able to understand what happened. This world is dark and dangerous that showed no mercy to anyone. These monster who lives in this world are heartless. This is nothing less than hell. These heartless men are not humans they are monsters. The monster that has no humanity. This monster made this world hell. The silence is all I listened to in my life. This silence is all around me. Not a single voice just silence. A type of silence that will kill you slowly. A kind of silence that seems loudest than anything.

“That’s because… you’re… you’re you. And he’s he.” He raised his brow. The fork in his hand stilled along with his eyes. “No. There’s one thing you’re mistaking here, Seraphina.” A strange look passed his eyes. “We are monsters. Raised in darkness, made with it. We are murderers. Taking a life is as easy as breathing. The sooner you accept it, the better.” His eyes never left mine. My throat tightened. “You chose this life—“ “No man is born a monster, this world makes him into one.”

"You're not one of them, Marinah, you're one of us." I haven't fully accepted what I've become. There are so many emotions-confusion, inner conflict on whether this is good or bad, and amazement. It's like I'm living in a dream turned nightmare and if I could only wake up, the world would return to normal. And that's a joke. What's normal in a new world where humans are hunted by monsters?

Losing my hold on him, I made it so he couldn’t move too much but where he was at least slightly comfortable if that was even possible. “We aren’t the monsters. I don't want to go on living any longer, but it won't give in to my will. I give up. It is meaningless. I know that before I can end my life the monster will send me through a painful change and give me its own grotesque body, saving us both from drowning. The monster is ripping at me, making my muscles quiver as its essens lure me with freedom. Maybe I should just let it take over, let it run our lives for a while ? Life is much simpler through the monster's eyes. No doubt, no guild, no hopelessness, no shit.

Because monsters are easier to understand when they begin as monsters. This— This was worse. Because now I had to witness what came before.

Her eyes were wide with shock and disgust. “Why are people so cruel? How do you do that to someone else?” she asked, and I shrugged. Discussing something like that would be futile. Most people were monsters. I was probably considered a monster, too, with everything I had done. There was a line though, and maybe, I only saw it that way because I tried to justify my actions, but killing children for their organs was definitely worse than what I did.

And that terrified him. Kristen had looked at him like he was more than a monste, like he was a good man. And deep down, he believed her. But belief is dangerous. It makes you soft. And softness is fatal in his world. Carlo collapses into a chair, overwhelmed. He’s a feared man, a killer. But now he’s haunted by the memory of Kristen’s breathless gasp, the warmth of her skin, and the sound of her crying behind a locked door.
