Chokehold
“Can we just not make it a late night, please? We can stay for like an hour and then we can come home. The guys are asking if I’ve got the internet hooked up yet. They want to play the new COD game.”
As they stepped out onto the porch, Hazel locked the front door, her boots creaking on the weather-beaten steps. She glanced over at him, head cocking to the side. “Is COD a fishing game?”
“Oh my God,” Max laughed, slinging his arm across her shoulders as they crunched over the gravel, beginning the trek to the Callahan place. “It’s a first person shooter, babe. Call of Duty.”
“Sounds fascinating,” she replied sarcastically, earning her a playful shove.
