A thousand questions run through my mind, but I keep moving along. The Alpha survives and goes to another Alpha whose veins seem filled with rage, painted in crimson, his eyes glowing an unnatural black. I’ve never seen or heard of an Alpha with black-glowing eyes when their wolf surfaces, but I continue. Also, behind this other Alpha is a looming shadow with the face of grief.

He holds a finger up to me, keeping his eyes closed. He is being weirder than normal! ‘Maybe he is speaking to Atlas.’ The pretty cluster of stars on my neck started to itch. Not in the same way as Elijah’s mark had. This was different, more like a warning. When Ryan opens his eyes, they are jet black, even the whites of his eyes are black. The one I could see. Axel Blackwood’s left eye was a smoldering, molten copper—alive with an inner fire that seemed to light up the very air around him. The iris, polished like burnished penny, radiated an intense warmth and depth that made the gaze hypnotic, magnetic. Flecks of gold glinted within that coppery storm, as if shards of sunlight had taken residence there, restless and burning. The cream-toned skin around his eye only served to make its color more striking, like the contrast of fire against pale ember. And his lash, thick and dark, framed his eye like brushstrokes on a masterpiece, accentuating the dangerous gleam within them.

I tried to ignore him, but my gaze kept drifting back to his table. That's when I saw it. For just a moment, when the light hit him at the right angle, his face seemed to shift. His features became sharper, more angular, and his eyes... his eyes were completely black. Not just dark brown or dark blue, but black as midnight, like looking into an abyss.

The runes flickered with a cold red glow, as if absorbing the surrounding vitality. Their faces were hidden behind black masks, revealing only pairs of lifeless eyes. Their pupils were completely black, devoid of any luster, like two cold pieces of obsidian.
