Blurry Eyes When I Wake Up Novels & Stories

Blur. The lines in front of him are completely blurry. He silently tries to read the letters on the page but it’s nearly impossible. Ryder sighs and puts on a pair of glasses. His vision is slightly clearer but he still can’t read too well. For the past few days, his vision keeps on switching between blurry and clear. Sometimes, he can see well. Sometimes, he can’t see beyond a few feet. He leans back against the leather chair and stares outside the window. It’s a clear night sky. The distant stars are almost negligible to him. He doesn’t react but simply stares into the distance, wondering how long he has.

With my blurred vision, I was incapable of distinguishing anything more than their vague shapes. I slowly hoist my tired body up into a sitting position, leaning my body against the headpost, rubbing my eyes at the same time in an endeavor to clear my cloudy vision. This time my vision was very clear but still a bit dim, so blinking rapidly, I tried to adjust to a bright ray surrounding the room.

The dryness of my throat was what had woken me up from the deep sleep I had drifted into. My eyes fluttered open slowly, each one felt incredibly heavy and unfocused. My vision was extremely blurred as I tried my best to see what was going on. I blinked a lot of times, trying to get some semblance of light into my eyes but it was still met with darkness everywhere. The whole world seemed to be nothing but a swirling void, as I sat there, panic surging through my veins. The air all around me thickened, suffocating me as I struggled to beat. My heart beat thundered again and again in my ears.

I waited a little, finding a book, before I went back and removed the teabag from the warm water. I began reading as I sipped my tea slowly. I wasn’t very tired, and my body felt strangely tense tonight, but I couldn’t figure out why. A moment ago, I felt fine. I sighed, drinking the last bit of tea before I decided to head to bed, but I kept tossing and turning, feeling strangely warm. I sat up, rubbing my eyes, before I noticed the world was turning blurry in front of me. It kept going in and out of focus, as if I couldn’t see. “What is happening?” I whispered.

I was trying to remember how I got there. The memories came back in scattered pieces. I made myself a cup of tea. Put it next to my laptop. I was working, looking at the screen trying to finish what I was writing. Everything seemed normal. Then the words, on the screen started to get blurry. I thought my eyes were just tired so I blinked a times. But the letters just got harder to see they started to swim and I could barely read them. Then I suddenly sat up. My heart started beating really fast. The room was empty. No Soren. No maids.

I can see a dim contour of a huge cavernous opening and outlines of treetops ahead of it. I wasn't sure as of yet if I could identify it as a window or if I were in a cave. I was laying atop something very soft. A bed I acknowledge in the back of my mind. With the exception of my right foot, the rest of my body seems to be concealed under satiny sheets. Molly My mind feels foggy as I try to wake up, like the feeling that you get when you are in a smokey room but I'm in my bedroom and in my bed so this doesn't make sense. I slowly start to open my eyes but the stinging only gets worse. What the hell is going on with my eyes?

The morning light was gray and weak. It crawled across the cold stone floor like a tired animal. I did not sleep. I did not close my eyes even for one minute. My eyelids felt heavy, like they were made of lead. My eyes felt dry and scratchy. But my brain was screaming at me to stay awake. It was telling me that if I closed my eyes, the world would move. If I blinked, the shadows would win.

My vision begins to blurry and my stomach is hurting too. Then everything went blank.

Which is insane because almost everyone back at home complains my screen isn’t bright enough. It was then it dawned on me that I was coming down with a fever. Hot water leaked from my eyes, making my vision misty and a bit blurry. Recalling the event of yesterday, from being under the shower for several minutes, sitting in wet clothes for yet another. Everything starts to make sense. I sink back into the covers, closing my eyes and rubbing my palms together. I sat up a second later, looking around for my phone, only to realize I have it beside me the entire time.
