I stepped out, bag over my shoulder, and didn’t look back as I walked inside. Ryan greeted me with a big hug and kisses, excited to hear about the cabin. I smiled and told him the trip was fine. Peaceful. The storm was intense but we managed. I left out every important detail. The fire. The rug. The belt around my wrists. The way his brother had looked at me while he came inside me. I never told him. And deep down, I knew I wouldn’t. Some secrets burn too good to let go.

He claimed the wilderness was full of vicious Rogues and that he feared for my safety. But the fresh, high-quality prey he sometimes brought back couldn't possibly have come from this outer part of the wilderness. I used to feel sorry for him, for all his hard work, and even offered to hunt with him. But he told me that the deep woods were filled with out-of-control Rogues and rabid beasts. The trap with the rabid bear had left me so terrified that I clung to his every word. Now, any rustle in the woods makes me flinch and instinctively cry out his name.

Amid the crisp sound of glasses colliding, I took a sip of the cold beer. The chill slid down my throat, but somehow, it warmed my heart. The road ahead was long, yet there was no reason to look back. Somewhere out there, beyond the horizon, an open wilderness was still waiting for me.

I sighed and stated, "Well, your sister decided to take a walk in the middle of the chaos that happened yesterday without anyone noticing, and when I finally realized she was gone, I went looking for her." I watched as the prez turned his furious gaze toward his sister. "What the fuck were you thinking, Vick?" he demanded. "You know that was dangerous! Suppose Death didn't notice you were gone in time? You know your crazy ex is out there looking for you. Then what?" Vick turned her gaze towards her brother, her eyes filled with defiance. "You don't think I know that? I just couldn't handle what happened yesterday. I needed... I just needed some air."

But W.I.L.D. is also something you become through experience, through trust, and through embracing every part of yourself.” Serenya exhaled, feeling the weight of the day, the forest, the lessons, and the truth of their words settle inside her. “I… think I get it. Like it knew something she didn’t. She rubbed her arms, shaking off the thought. She had sat in the living room alone for a while after Elara had left her but she was starting to feel suffocated so she slipped outside when no one noticed, and decided to go out for an evening walk. The Liaison estate was grand, spreading out into well-trimmed gardens before filling out into the wild treeline. Garrick liked to say he kept the wild at bay, but Irvine often thought the wild kept itself alive, waiting, and bidding. Tonight, she wanted to feel it wrap around her.

Lila swallowed. Voice barely a whisper. “Red.” He chuckled darkly. “Good girl.” The woman’s hand slid to the zipper at the back of Lila’s dress. “Then let’s begin.”

As we continued our moonlit adventure, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the rare opportunity to be part of something so primal and beautiful. We ran far into the woods, our wolves weaving through the trees until we reached a spacious clearing where the moon shone brightly in the night sky. The silver glow casts a serene ambience over the open space. I sat on the cool dirt and howled at the moon, expressing my joy and connection to the wilderness. Cage, Sebastien's wolf, joined me in no time, his howl harmonising with mine. The clearing became a sacred space where we could embrace the wild and be true to our primal selves.

I smirked at Finn as I replied, “We only discovered it last night when we were out hunting. We came across a pack of rogues, close to the town. I'd managed to kill three of them, but when I was distracted one of them snuck up behind me. Luckily Tana spotted him, didn't you?” I asked her wolf as I stroked her head. She howled in response, and I continued with my story, “When Tana's wolf was wrestling the rogue, it got the better of her and had her pinned to the floor. I was busy with two others, and then just as the rogue went to rip her throat out, she burst into flames.”
