Bound by Blood
"You have to press down hard. I don't know what to do, it's too much blood, there's too much"
"He's going into hypovolemic shock," Dr. Kovac’s raspy voice cut through the room, punctuated by a wet, rattling wheeze from his oxygen tank. He didn't sound angry or clinical anymore. He just sounded tired, a dying man watching another man die. "His blood pressure is collapsing. If you do not elevate his legs and pack the wound properly, his heart will stop within the minute."
Sophia didn't yell at him. She didn't tell him to shut up. She looked up at the old man, her eyes wide, completely desperate for a lifeline. "How? Dr. Kovac, please, what do we do? Tell us what to do."
