"I don't miss anything about that place," I said, my voice hardening.
"Not the sun, and certainly not the man."
"Good." Astance walked toward the door, his hand lingering on the frame. He looked back at me, his silhouette framed by the dim light of the hallway. The annoyance that had brought him into the room had settled into a grim, dark satisfaction.
"Because by the time I'm done, there won't be much of that man left to miss."
