He suddenly leaned over, pretending to examine my candy. “You made the wrong choice my Princess.” He chuckled dramatically. “Pink is overrated, blue is obviously superior.” I raised my eyebrows, giving him a bombastic side eye “Excuse me, pink has a subtle refined sweetness, and it's girly while blue is garish and snobbish.” He leaned closer, close enough that I could feel his breath. “Refined? Or just predictable?” I laughed, swatting his arm lightly. “Predictables might be safer.”

There’s powdered sugar on top like fresh snow. “These aren’t in the case,” she says, placing them gently on the counter in front of Theo. “They’re from my special menu.” Theo’s eyes nearly pop out of his head. “Special like… secret?” She nods. “Very exclusive. Kiddie-tested, adult-approved.” “What kind are they?” She taps each one. “Blueberry lemon zest. Banana-chocolate chip. Strawberry shortcake.” “I want all of them,” he whispers. “Start with one, buddy,” I say, though I can’t help smiling.

“Okay let's give our lollipod a little bite and tell what color they have,'' Cassandra announced and everyone started digging into their dessert. “White.. White, purple... Yellow… red '' the colors just came in but there was no pink or blue. “I've got blue.'' Cassandra turned to the voice and Karim was coming down the stairs with a blue-colored lollipop cake. “And I have pink” Emani came from the other end.

Thelma blinked back tears that threatened to fall when she thought about the happiness in her life, a large smile that could touch the sky emerged from her lips when she stared at Ella’s happy face.
