Chapter 150: Pancakes Shasta woke up early the following morning. While Blake snored softly, she tiptoed out of bed, pulled on her pink satin robe, and padded out to the refrigerator. She'd hidden her treasures in the crisper, hoping Blake wouldn't look there. Giggling softly to herself, she took out the container of blueberries she'd picked at Winchester the day before. They'd been amazingly easy to find—they'd been there the first day she'd visited the point, she just hadn't recognized them before they were ripe.

"No thanks," Emmet replied to Lila, picking up another biscuit, this time a blue one with brown spots on its wings, devoured with little thought put into it and little examination done of the swirling patterns done in a subtle purple, circling the bolder and darker black spots and patterns that were sitting there idly.

He lifts his t-shirt to form a pouch to be able to carry them and picks enough for the muffins plus a few extra handfuls. They’re one of her favourites, she could have some fresh with the muffins.

She truly hadn't expected that a passing comment she made once would be remembered so carefully by Zander—let alone that he would go through the trouble of replicating it for her. Elena glanced at the cooler and realized it wasn't just cherry wine. There was the pale gold shimmer of peach wine, crystal-clear lychee wine, a deep and mysterious blueberry, and a tangy passionfruit... it was a veritable treasure trove of fruit wines. "Liana, I sampled them for you before I came. The blueberry one is also quite good; you should try that one too." Zander sat across from her, his gaze lingering on her face with a trace of longing.

"Vanilla is your favorite, blueberry is my favorite." I love vanilla ice-cream but blueberry is sweet too and my desire for his blueberry ice-cream grows when he scoops a spoonful into his mouth as he closes his eyes, enjoying every bit of it. He takes another scoop and directs it into his mouth and for some reason I wonder what that mouth could do to someone's daughter. Focus! "Why are you looking at me like that?" he asks. "I want some of your ice-cream," I say calmly.

Lily took out her lucky blue stone, “Do you remember the blue pebble in Blueberry Spring? Hehe, this is my lucky charm, I carry it with me wherever I go!" Charlie took the stone with a smile, "Ah! I remember! I used to think that all pebbles in the world were blue. It wasn't until I came to Skyville that I discovered they were all different colours!" Charlie carefully rubbed the blue pebble and suddenly froze, only to see a small white spot on the smooth top of the pebble. Charlie's hand trembled, almost dropping the pebble, then he quickly grabbed Lily's resume and began to read it quickly.

It was good because I needed more time before those questions came in. To shift the mood, I nodded toward the menu board behind the counter, where a colorful chalk drawing advertised their weekend brunch specials. “You know what I’ve been thinking about since we sat down? Pancakes. Specifically, why blueberries are clearly superior to chocolate chips.” Anyta’s eyebrows shot up, a small smile tugging at her lips. The change in topic caught her off guard, exactly as I’d hoped. “Oh, we’re doing this now? In the middle of whatever that was?” She gestured vaguely toward the window where the SUV had vanished.

Amelia's POV I snapped the stem off the cherry, the plump fruit now free of the little leaves attached to it. “What colour should I paint this time?” Lillian asked. She had returned yesterday after hearing what happened at the house a few days ago. Typical Lilian. She didn't stop wailing even when she hugged me. I knew she missed me and I missed her too. I popped the cherry in my mouth, enjoying the juicy sweetness with my eyes closed. “I think pink and blue.” I replied with my eyes closed relishing the taste of the cherry. Nowadays, my cravings are off the charts. Just an hour ago, I had a big bucket of ice cream and now, it's onto fruits.
