She could feel the worms wriggling in her heart, the squirming of the worms made her stomach queasy. However, her attention was suddenly diverted as a gust of cold wind swept across her face, and blew her long hair. The gust of wind carried voices whispering in her ear, not the whispers of the surrounding leaves, but other whispers that she could understand. Leah looked left and right, it seemed that no one felt the gust of wind and whispers except for her. Even Mia and Grace who were standing so close to her didn't feel what she felt. The whisper called her name, she was sure. Not the sound of the wind, or the voices in her head, someone called her name

My breath comes faster, chest fig‌hting for space. Come on. Move. I pres‌s a⁠gain, usin‌g my shoul‌der, my knee, anything. The sl‍ab shifts a few centimeters, en‌ough f‌or a breath of cooler air to snake throu⁠gh. I suc⁠k it in greedily, choking halfway.‍ My head spi‍ns, stars‍ b‌u⁠rsting behind my⁠ eyelid‌s.

the voice called again. Whoever my strange voice belonged to, he had one of the sexiest accents I'd ever heard. Something about the voice itself was familiar, but I had no idea what or why. Pushing that all from my mind, I tried to do my deep breathing exercises. Failed. I tried to just breathe like a normal human. Failed at that, too. The cold wind blasted my face, making it almost impossible to breathe. It ripped tears from my eyes, and made my nose feel like it was going to break off my face at any second. The gusting wind battered at my ears like being in the middle of a thunderstorm.

I nod stiffly. “You’re not alone,” he reminds me, and his voice isn’t mocking. Just then, his arm wraps around my stomach. Strong yet not too tight. I suck in a breath. “Breathe out. I can feel you holding your breath.” he sounds serious now. “Easy for you to say. I'm sure you’ve done this countless times before.” I retort but still do as he says, breathing out shakily. He chuckles softly on my neck close to my ear, “Just hold still, Dahlia. For your information, the winds will be sharp at first.”

I shook my head in Zander's direction. "It’s okay, love. Come on, breathe with me. Concentrate on me, Raven. Don’t take your eyes off me”, Zander ordered. I shook the dizziness away and my eyes followed his movement as he inhaled and exhaled. I imitated his chest movement, breathing in and out. But I was wheezing. Zander started breathing heavily, the anger on his face was clear as day. He wasn't angry at me, he was fuming at the pain I was going through.

I spray an abundant amount so I can breathe, and not smell them. I turned on the vent, hoping that will help as well. I rub my chest, the pain still hurt so bad. I'm surprised I'm even standing and walking. The pain is unbelievable. My body is still sweating like crazy. It trembles, it's almost as if I'm cold and my body won't stop trembling.

My breath gets stuck in my throat and the urge to run itches across my spine. I pull my arms tighter around myself and crouch in one of the trees, trying to conserve my body heat. My arms were starting to redden, the rigid slap of the wind was already working its way through me. I press my chin to my collarbone and squeeze my eyes shut.“One….two….three…” I close my eyes and count, trying to wake myself up from this dream but it doesn't work. The whips from the wind, hard at first, suddenly becomes hotter and gets louder, until it becomes shrieking in my entire body.

My vision blurs with motion, and the pressure in my chest tightens like a fist. I step to the edge of the sidewalk, clutching the straps of my bag as if they’re the only thing holding me to earth. My lungs seize violently, refusing to expand. A thin, high ringing builds behind my ears, drowning out the city. I try to inhale, but the air hits a wall halfway in, and panic ricochets through my body. I stumble back, trying desperately to steady myself. The ground feels uneven under my feet. I suck in another breath, then another, but each one is thin, insufficient, like breathing through a pinhole.

Would this feeling ever go away? Soon, I slowed my movements and stopped after another moment as I was starting to huff for air. I only cried out a moment ago and not for very long, I might add. However, the issue of breathing was like I went for a long run. So, why was I so winded to the point where it made it hard to breathe!? He relaxed his grip on me a bit, but still managed to hold me up against him. I was still breathing rapidly as he started to kiss my neck where his head was resting against the side of my face.
