Her wings fell back into her body, screaming. Covering my mouth, a sob wrecked through me. I had forgotten she would feel the pain, too. Too worried about watching Mortus breathe his last breaths. The warrior, his eyes solemn with pity, gently gathered her in his arms, picked her up. Her head leaned into his chest, gripping his uniform. “Leave me,” she cried again. Wings sprung forth from his body, shaking his head. His wings hummed in the pattern of a hummingbird and took flight to the palace.

They moved skillfully, and quickly, opting to fight opponents that had still been in human form. Ambrosia fought just the same but had Tiana and Zephyr as back up. This allowed her to fight wolves as well. Zephyr's white wings were beautiful and almost blinding. I wished I could have had more time to take in their enthralling, majestic beauty. One look at them had you in a daze. I reluctantly tore my eyes away from them to look at Tiana's wings. It resembled a butterfly's with multicolors, the most prominent being bronze and gold.

That was when I noticed the tattoos. His back was adorned with an intricate design of large black wings, streaked with delicate gold traces that shimmered faintly in the low light. The wings spanned across his shoulders and down his back, a masterpiece that was both beautiful and intimidating. They exuded a silent warning, a "do not mess with me" aura that fit him perfectly. Yet, despite their commanding presence, I felt no fear. This was Alessandro. The man who had carried me, who had stood by me even when I pushed him away. He wasn’t a threat—he was my protector.

Wings. Not small, not hidden. Massive, burning with silver light, exploding from my back like I was born to fly. They were gigantic, if unfurled it could probably be more than six feet. The feathers coating his bat-shaped wings looked to be made of sharp crystals and the two horns at the tips glistened with sliver. "I understand that you are angry and that this is your family but I am not the one you should be taking your anger out on," Zephyr yelled, but I didn't care to listen to his words.

He gasped and thought stupidly, "It's not mine." The Immortal Master Kylin and the Immortal Master Famous Sword were shocked. Just as the Immortal Master of the Winged race was about to cut Yan Wushuang's neck, a figure suddenly appeared and slowly reached out his hand. The golden wings cut fiercely on the outstretched hand. With a boom, a storm swept over, but the hand was not hurt. Instead, it grabbed the wings of the Immortal Master of the Winged race and tore them off. The wings turned into a purple blade in the man's hand, which easily cut off the head of the Immortal Master of the Mustelid race besides.

And you, my grandson, were born to wield this power, not hide it.” His wings slowly lowered, folding in behind him, though the ground still trembled faintly under his bare feet. For the first time, I saw him not as cursed, not as broken. But as unstoppable. He practiced flying in the sky with his wings and I kept staring at him from down in awe. The sight was awesome. I didn't know I would be able to see something like that in my life.
