They climbed in, and it pulled away from the curb. Winnie’s body tensed and her face turned pale as they drove. An hour later, the car rolled through the gates of an opulent villa. As they stepped out, some of Winnie’s nerves eased. She turned to her mother, curiosity outweighing her fear.
