“Why are you all this slow and this dumb about that?” The smile dropped. Behind him, Kai’s expression shifted not amusement this time. Something sharper. “Slow and dumb,” Kai repeated. He tilted his head slightly, the way he did when he was deciding something. “Interesting. Why don’t we settle it then? On the ice.” His eyes moved to my group and back to me. “Whoever loses cleans the winner’s locker room. Skates included.” I didn’t want to say yes. Every practical part of my brain was already running the numbers. My players were tired, undertrained, nowhere near match ready. I knew what the scoreboard was going to look like.

Chapter 5 (Loraine’s POV) “Hello ladies, and welcome to Malcolm’s heaven, soon to be renamed, but that is not important. The important part is, if you stick around, make sure to throw an eye on the bars where the box with suggestions for a new name would be. Now let us begin the tour. My name is Mandy, and I am one of the three owners of this club. The male part of the trio you probably already met, and that would be Andrew. He is always here so you can always look for him if you have any questions and me or Anabelle are not present. You will meet her tomorrow, that is those who stick with us throughout tonight. First, I should tell you we do not tolerate drugs, violence, nudity, or prostitu

“It’s a petition. I’m starting a girls' hockey team. Some of us actually want to play Yasmine, even if the principal is a caveman.” “You need to stop this right now,” she hissed, her voice dropping into that tone she always used when she was trying to act like the responsible one. “We are supposed to be laying low! We changed our names, we live in this miserable hole, and you’re out there making a scene on your second day? Did you learn absolutely nothing from the fire?” The word fire hit me, but I forced my face flat. “This is different. It’s just a school club. I need to be on the ice, Yasmine. I'm suffocating here.”

I mentally slapped myself at my thought. I gulped and opened my mouth to answer but found can't find the right words to say so instead, I looked past him and looked around the room I am in. The room is dimly lit, but I can still clearly see the king size bed in the middle with silk sheets, a long table on the side with straps on it and I gasped when I saw different equipment that I am not familiar with but are aware of. God, this place is for torture! “Do you want to know why this club’s name is Fire and Ice?”

Elena’s fingers were numb from gripping the rag so tightly. She’d been scrubbing the same stubborn spot on the window for ten full minutes, pressing harder with every pass, but the frost refused to give. Regular ice would have softened under the warmth of her breath and the weak morning light seeping through the glass. This wasn’t regular ice. This was Maya’s ice—Silver Wolf ice—thin, glittering, and unnaturally stubborn. It clung to the pane like it had roots buried deep in the glass, a silent, shimmering accusation that something ancient and forbidden had woken up in this tiny room last night.

The container sat open on the ice. Water pooled around it, thin streams still finding their way through cracks and channels beneath the surface, dripping slowly into the drainage system Victor had forced into motion. The hum had stopped, but the rink hadn’t fully settled. There was a faint shifting sound beneath our feet, the echo of something that had been disturbed after too many years of stillness. Jaxon stood close behind me. Not touching. But close enough. I could feel the heat of him through the cold. That steadiness grounded me more than I wanted to admit.

Cox glowering at her. She could also feel another pair of eyes melting through her skin, turning her eyes to the head of the table, she was met with the deepest blue eyes she had ever seen. Alex Donovan, the ruthless billionaire CEO and also the most eligible bachelor in City M, in fact the country. The pictures she had come across while doing her research had not done him justice. She aimed a smile at him and turned to listen to the presentation Mr. Cox was giving. The next 10 minutes passed in a haze of boredom. This was probably the worst PowerPoint presentation she had ever seen and that was saying a lot.

"I can totally see that! He probably had a spreadsheet for his toys, too." "Oh, absolutely," Lucas replied. "He's always been the 'Ice King.' But honestly? Seeing him actually lose his cool because of a 'Wildcat' like you... it's the most entertainment I've had in years. You're the first person who doesn't just bow down to him."

• She reached for my hand, and I let her take it, understanding that this particular vulnerability — admitted fully, without the careful editing I’d practiced for over a decade — felt different from anything I’d allowed myself before. “Perfection protected you once,” she said. “I need you to actually hear that, because I think it’s important. The version of yourself you built after that championship, the Ice Wall, it wasn’t irrational. It was a survival strategy that made sense for a nineteen-year-old with no other tools available to him. But it can’t be allowed to keep running your entire life, Sky. What protected you at nineteen is actively costing you at twenty-eight.” “What did it cost m

incredibly fast! "You see?” Alice tucked her long hair confidently, “No weapons needed.” "How did you do that?!" "Glacies Materia …" Alice said. "Ice Materialization. Want me to teach you now?" "Hell yeah!" Arth replied, jumping in excitement.
