She shakes her head slightly at me, movement practiced, then joins the new chant without missing a beat, matching the others’ tempo. Laid like an eagle ready to be slaughtered, I keep my eyes on Alyssa while six witches, her included, stand around me. They keep chanting. They bring out a pouch…from…air? Then pour its contents into their hands. Silver ash. Wolves Nemesis. My eyes widen. I yank my frantic gaze from the pouch back to Alyssa. She closes her eyes and opens them once , a signal to close mine. I obey. The chants swell around me.

He said. “I thought witches didn’t have mates as us wolves do.” I stated matter-of-factly. “Just because we don’t find our mates at eighteen like you do and have some miraculous bond snap into place doesn’t mean that we don’t have soul mates. Many witches are serial monogamists who mate for life just like werewolves. The goddess leads us to them in mysterious ways” he said. “So, are you trying to tell me that Sierra is my mate?” I asked him almost laughing in his face

I knew that Lewis was fighting his wolf for command, but why I was not sure. “I forgot to mention that there are other witches that are fans of your mate. And those witches want to lend a helping hand.” I paused what I was doing and looked at my mate’s master. “Where are they now,” I questioned. “They are ready and waiting for the command of the ALpha leading the charge…with the rest of the wolves in position.”

I said after a moment. Victor nodded. “I’ll give you some space.” I didn’t let him leave the room though. I wanted him close. I dialed quickly, and Mom answered on the second ring. “Sweetheart?” Her voice was tight with worry. “Are you okay?” “We’re fine,” I said quickly. “But you need to hear this.” I put her on speaker just as Dad’s voice joined the line. “We’re both here. Go ahead.” I inhaled deeply. “The witches are planning to betray both the vampires and the wolves. They’ve been playing nice with the sunstones and helping reverse the curse but that’s only part of it. They plan to spark a war.”

She rejoiced that the collar was gone from her neck but now only fear could be seen in her small face. "A sorcerer" She murmured as she took a step back in a startle. But I immediately suppressed the strange feeling and instead turned my attention to what he said. “Misunderstanding? You were there to take Maya. There's no misunderstanding in that,” I said. I took my hand back warningly and went straight to the other room where he said Maya was. But before I entered the room, I heard the two guys whispering and arguing at each other. “Elemental witches are crazy. There’s no way you could reason out with the likes of them, ” said the guys with blue hair. “Tsk. Stop generalizing them. Not all of them are like your witch,” the dark-eyed man replied in annoyance.
