I didn’t know what magic smelled like, but this room felt like it had some. I stepped inside slowly, looking around like the brave warrior princess I pretended to be when I played with my dolls. So many books. Stacks and stacks of them, tall and wide and thick and dusty. I touched one of the shelves, my fingers dragging over the wooden surface until I stopped in front of one really old-looking book with gold edges. The title was shiny. “The Flare Witches.” Oooooh. That sounded cool.

*MIKAYLA’S POV* “Come on, Mika. Just come to this party with me!” June begged, pulling on my sleeve. Lying on my bed, I was inside my room reading a new book that I borrowed from Alpha Heron’s library. I was hoping to finish it before he came home. The book was about the were-kingdom, containing information about all the various types of shifters. I thought that this particular book should not have been touched, so basically, I was stealing a read.

I knew because I had been here for two days, reading. Learning. Amongst the trunk full of books Tessa had gotten for me I had been reading about witches and wolves. nothing new. Today I rummaged through the trunk and pulled out the thickest, black leather cover and the title unlike the rest. ‘Chronicles of the Abyssal eater’ Though it was in faded silver letters, I could see it perfectly. I took the book over towards the desk I had been sitting on and opened it. I could smell the old pages and the smell of mold made me scrunch up my nose.

The time that passed had little effect on them where they were safely stored. Jake gestured to a large table by the closed window and they dropped all the books there. Wayne and Walter walked over and Wayne took a book. He opened it and read the first page aloud. “The prophecy was never meant to be me. I was never the one...” he read but the rest were total gibberish, a repetition of words over and over again. But in the middle of the book was a sketch of a wolf with yellow colour pencil. Underneath it, the word ‘unclear’ was written. They all glanced through more books, each having just one page of useful information. But each had a better sketch of the wolf that began in the first book. An

Flipping open the book randomly, my eyes skimmed over words that made no meaning to me. I turned around as heavy footsteps approached, only to find Yeti balancing a ridiculous amount of books in her arms. “Found some good stuff—” she paused as her eyes strayed to the book I was holding. “What is that?” “A book?” She walked past me, dropping the heaps of books on the table before turning back to me. “Let me see that.” She said, prying the book from my fingers. “Forgotten Beasts: A Study on the Supernatural.

Her fingers twitch against her skirt. "Fine," Audrey whispers, her voice dropping into something dangerous. "But I know that you can give me one other thing." My smile dies instantly. My chest tightens. "No. I cannot do that, Audrey. That book is forbidden." "What book?" Gage asks, his voice sharp. I stand up slowly, keeping my eyes locked onto Audrey's face. "A sort of grimoire. Like a witch spell book, but it is more than that. This book involves all kinds of magic. Including the Lycans."

He turned around and tilted his head. "Thank You." Her smile was small but filled with gratitude. "You're welcome and you can call me Azraiel." He watched her nod her head and left the medical wing with the brightest smile on his face. Alone in the room, Charlotte moved on the bed a little to lift the books he had left. She put them on the unoccupied space on the bed and lifted the first one to read the title. A small smile crept on her face as she read the title. "Basics of the Werewolf World" was a fifty-page introduction book for children at the Orchid Primary School at the Blue Orchid Pack. She leaned back and started reading about the new world she was going to be in for the rest of her

“Come with me.” Winter walked around the library. She then went to the very corner of the room, pressed the room button and made it open. A secret room that holds magic books for tier one witches. The book was flying, unlike the books in the front room which were neatly arranged on the shelves. Helena just found out there was a room like this. Each book was coated in fairy powder, so it could fly on its own. “This is the book!” Winter exclaimed. She reached for a book with a red cover; a book that could show a map of the world.

I gasped, “It worked! It really worked!” But the book I had pulled over wasn’t the book I wanted to read. Among the books on the shelf, one of them which was as thick as two dictionaries combined, was a book that taught witchery. But when turned upside down and read from behind, it taught druid magic. I had snuck it from the library at the Canary Witches’ coven. But the problem was how to read it. I had learned three witch tongues, but I knew nothing about the druid tongue.

I asked. She shut the book in her lap and threw it aside in anger before going for another one. I got onto my knees and picked up a few other papers that lay by her side. As I fumbled through them, I couldn’t miss a few titles. Witchery for wolves A wolf’s curse Witches and the Wolves The ancient art of Witchery Witchers: The supernaturals healers. “Witches?” I asked, looking at her, “Why are you reading up on the witches?”
