Wanda called out loudly. All the witches hurriedly started preparing for the ritual. They draw a huge Pentagram in the middle of their town. They placed fresh heads of human sacrifices, which were arranged just for this purpose. Blood was splattered all around, making the pentagram shine blood red. Wanda arrived then, wearing a black robe. She walked into the center of the Pentagram. The other witches stood around the drawings, just outside the freshly severed heads. Wanda started chanting, and soon all the other witches followed suit as one. Different tones chanted the same spell in a chorus. “Look. There’s space underneath for both of you.” He slid the book toward me and Mirra. My fingers hovered over the page. The idea of writing anything down felt strangely huge. Writing meant admitting this wasn’t temporary. That we weren’t waiting to wake up from this changed version of ourselves. But that also meant it was something we could shape. I took the quill. My hand shook a little as I wrote. Rule Four: My magic is allowed to be messy if it means I am the one choosing how to use it. I paused, then added:

“I’m Zack, by the way.” “Okay,” I said. Another minute later, “Hey, Kimia. What do you call a wizard who is good at calculus?” “Hermione,” I told him. “She’s good at arithmancy, not calculus,” Zack said without missing a beat. I snorted. “No,” he continued, “you call them a mathemagician.” “That was dumb,” I told him, but I couldn’t help grinning. He grinned back. “You’re smiling, though. I’ve got more.”

Flipping through the pages, there were sketches of wolves, and the last page that she’d written in had a detailed rendition of a nightmarish wolf-beast that made my blood run cold at the sight of it, it’s eyes smudged over with charcoal in the shape of a protective rune. "It felt like I wasn’t even me."

The naked man stopped in his tracks. "How?" The wizard knew it was a game up for him. He tried to disappear but couldn't. The young lady had done more than break his spell, she had rendered him powerless. "Who are you to have taken away my magic?" The wizard shouted at Vanessa. Vanessa heard the sound of many foots and paws and took to her heels. She ran through woods. What had she gotten herself into? Wolves were hot on her tail. Did she run into something she wasn't supposed to discover?

The thought made Wilbur's excitement grow, and he began inscribing spells into the Book of Sequence at once. It was an extremely complicated process. It required an intense level of knowledge of spells and large amounts of spirit energy and spiritual energy to achieve. Of course, Wilbur more than met those standards. He had figured out how to make charmed scrolls a long time ago and only lacked the materials. Now was the time to test his spell knowledge. It was nine in the morning when Wilbur finally managed to finish carving the first spell into the first page of the Book of Sequence. He wiped away the sweat on his brow, letting out a sigh of relief.
