The flits immediately dropped Mason and swarmed Rori, they buzzed and flew in blurred streaks around her, creating virtually a funnel cloud of flame and heat.

I glanced upward. A light. Small. Glowing. A firefly? No—more. Many. Wings like flame. They danced above the water, then… they drifted toward my arrows. I backed away, heart thudding. They circled the arrowheads—then landed. “Nay…” I whispered. I tried to wave them off, but they did not budge. Then the fireflies glowed brighter—and to my awe—my arrows began to burn. The tips lit with soft, steady flame.
