“My beloved.” Cold washes over me as Nyxara steps from the shadows like a nightmare taking shape. She looks divine, terrible, and furious all rolled into one. Her gown looks like it was woven from the night sky, and her eyes burn the same violet shade as my wolf’s, except twisted into something cruel. “Get away from him,” I snarl, pulling Kael against my chest. Nyxara smiles. It’s the kind of smile wolves make before biting. “Oh, little wolf,” she purrs. “You think you can keep what belongs to me?”

The Blackwood wolves surged behind her. A dark shape burst from the treeline. Amber eyes flashed beneath the moonlight. Lyla’s breath sharpened. The rival’s wolf. Lyla’s body coiled with tension. The wolf lunged. Lyla twisted beneath the blow. Her claws slid free beneath her skin. Her fist connected with the wolf’s ribs sharp and clean. The wolf hit the ground hard. Lyla’s breath sharpened. Eli’s silver gaze flashed beside her. Another dark shape lunged toward them.

The wolf fell to the ground, yelping and bleeding profusely from his face, where his eyes used to be. Wess and Jack were also being attacked. They took out the wolf who was coming for them with a well placed razor-sharp claw to his chest. Ripping the wolf open and spilling his heart and lungs to the ground.

He paused, his eyes scanning my face for any sign of understanding. “I couldn't help but laugh, I guess either I'm hearing things or I'm not the only crazy one in the room.” Zayn stepped closer, his movements deliberate and careful, as if I might bolt at any moment. “You’re a wolf,” he said, his voice steady. “You always have been. Toby tried to explain but i could still hear Alpha Flynn’s low growl. Suddenly i heard bones cracking. Did he just change into his wolf form or something? Inside the freaking house? I quickly opened the door and walked outside. I found Toby, still in his human form, and Alpha Flynn, already changed into a big dark grey wolf. The frames on the wall are all on the floor, cracked. He obviously is bigger than any other wolf that I have ever seen. Even bigger than Toby's wolf form. "Mitzy, get inside your room right now!" Toby yelled, covering me with his arms.

I started taking a deep breath before I kept reading. “The Red Rose pack. The most powerful wolf pack in the whole country. This pack dates back to the 1600s when the first Alpha reigned in the woods. Rumors were spread that a rabid wolf attacked a hunter when he was out hunting for rabbits. From then on, he kept attacking the village and recruiting more wolves by biting them without remorse. They built the town and up until this day, that pack still exists. Bigger and more powerful than ever.”
