I wasn’t healing as fast as I should have and I felt confused. “What did you give me?” I asked him. “Wolfsbane, it slows the healing and eventually it will kill you,” he said to me. Wolfsbane. Now that was a problem I hadn’t foreseen. “Then get it over with, because I’ll never tell you anything,” I said to him. He laughed again as he looked at me.

How could I possibly look after my pup? I wasn't a qualified mother, nor a qualified mate. I chuckled self-deprecatingly. With a loud slam, the door was shut. I suddenly remembered that Wesley confiscated some Wolfsbane from a traitor in the pack. Apparently, there was no antidote for it. I walked over to the safe and retrieved the Wolfsbane, adding them to a glass of water. Then, I drank it all in one go. My body started to burn. I knew my life had begun its countdown.

Hunter jerks on the bed so suddenly that Aria’s eyes snap to him and she tells him to calm down, like some fucking child. I go to the table by the left wall and place the suitcase on it. I tap in the code, open the latches and bring out the wolfsbane, a golden liquid substance with flecks of bright blue in it. Roman said Hunter used to buy it in bulk and have it shipped out despite how dangerous it is to werewolves and how he knew his clients would use it against people like them. He had to sabotage that business and bring it down and Hunter was not happy about it.

Once he arrived where I knelt, he crouched down so that he could look me in the eye. “Wolfsbane,” he said. “It works like magic. Even the strongest werewolves can't resist wolfsbane, and neither can you. You can’t resist it. You know, I do enjoy you bragging about everything you are. Well, look at you now—how hilarious.” As he spoke, he beat his lap with his palm, laughing in my face, and I couldn’t do anything about it.
