Sat with the cursor for a moment. I thought about the coffee I’d returned to hand over, the folder she’d left, standing in the area of Brooklyn at seven forty-three on a Tuesday evening having decided, somewhere between leaving the office and arriving at her building, that there was a reasonable explanation for why this was a sensible thing to do. I thought about the long drive home. I typed three words at the top of the document. What I want. I sat with them. Then I started writing. Not a strategy. Not a plan. Not a managed approach to a complicated situation. Just the true thing, set down in the order it arrived, without editing for usefulness.

Does 'go away' mean leave you and become external? Unclear want creates unclear result. Creates danger. Creates accidents. That is why intention matters. Why is a clear desire essential? Why is understanding exactly what you want before using power necessary?"
