Xavier took his turn in the bathroom while I commandeered his abandoned chair. "This is bullshit," I muttered, jabbing at my keyboard. "There's gotta be a way around their damn humanity test." Xavier emerged, hair damp, smelling faintly of hotel soap. "Our DNA's different, Zoe. No hacking that." "I'll find a loophole," I grumbled, mostly to myself. Dawn was bleeding through the curtains when movement caught my eye. Xavier had straightened suddenly, that look he gets when Spike's onto something.
