He glanced at Zach and raised his eyebrows in surprise, “Hey aren’t you Cole’s brother?” Did he say Cole, as in Cole Grey? Cole is one of Zach’s older brothers, but how would he know him? “Yes,” Zach replied, taking his death glare off Alec for a moment. “What are you doing here Xander? Haven’t seen you in a while.” Oh! Xander Hill. I remember now from high school. Cole and Xander graduated two years ago if I remember correctly.

I demand, and his smirk grows bigger. “I’m Xander,” he says, offering his hand. I take it, but only briefly before dropping my hand back into my lap with an inward cringe. I don’t know what it is with this guy, but he’s kind of creeping me out. “Tara told me about you,” he continues. “I heard you just joined the Renegades.” It takes me a moment to realize that he’s talking about the guy’s dance team. “Oh, yeah. I did.”

Sinclair takes another step forward, clearly ready to either tear Xander to pieces or take him into custody – I honestly don’t know which – Xander – an old, wrinkled man with cruelty in every line of his face - just smirks up at Sinclair, not moving an inch. But the Atalaxian speaker – a high-ranking senator himself – steps forward then, interceding. “Alpha Sinclair,” he says, his word heavy with the acknowledgement that my mate is not yet King, “Duke Xander is a protected member of our delegation – an Ambassador. If you harm him or take him into custody, it will be considered an act of war.”

I personally didn’t see the fucking difference. Xander had dark brown hair and light brown eyes with flecks of honey. He was tall and muscular but on the leaner side than me. I towered over his 6’ 3” frame by a good 4-5 inches and was much, much wider and more muscular. I was a beast, the sheer size of me intimidating to everyone I have ever encountered. And I liked it that way.

He's so big and tall and looks ready to crush anything he can get his hands on. So that sight of him holding a small and squirming bundle in a blanket takes me back. "Hello, Skylar." He says calmly. "My name is Xander. If it's alright with you, I have some questions I want to ask you. It's about your abusers... may I sit down and ask?"

Xander. "Wait!" I turn around, only to be pulled into Derek's arms. His lips smash into mine. I push him back. Derek just laughs and said, "Just a kiss for the road." Derek's eyes flicker in fear, but he tries to cover it up. He puffs out his chest, trying to be intimidating. But he couldn't intimidate someone like Xander. Xander is 6'5 of pure muscle. He is the definition of intimidation.

Zak had readily agreed to the transfer, as had Xander’s old Alpha, Brett. His father had died in a rogue attack when he was five. It was what prompted him to become a warrior.
