Jacob said in a controlled snarl. “ But I can feel that he is –“ “ he will be fine.” Jacob assured her. “ how would you know that he will be fine? He is not immortal!” Xoyo burst into anger and tried to get out of Jacob’s blocked. “ Xoyo!!” Xoyo was able to get out of the place and run down to the ground where she cross path with a woman werewolf. I felt his eyes burn through me as I moved and I noticed Beth staring at me from the corner. Along came that coy smirk as I saw the suffering in her expression. She couldn't stand it and I loved it. The scent hit me before I heard the footsteps, before the doors behind us opened again with a force that made the torches flicker. Xahen walked into the room. He looked like he’d just come from war. His hair was a mess, falling into his face in damp strands. His skin was slicked with a layer of sweat and his shirt was half unbuttoned, showing the ink that crawled up his chest. But it was his eyes that made me take a step back. Dark amber, nearly gold, burning with a rage that was barely contained. “Leave.” He didn’t look at Nala when he said it. His eyes were fixed on me.

I snapped, redirecting the fury coursing through my veins back at him. Yandor widened his eyes as though he were shocked to see me defy the commands of his blood. “What husbands! The celestials do not acknowledge this joke of a marriage!” Yandor grumbled. “You have no husbands! You have no relation with these disgusting monsters—” “Enough!” I roared, holding his glare. “Lord Yandor, lady Xanthea… please calm down. It was a thin, silken strand of hair, pale gold and unmistakably Emily’s, and myy stomach dropped in an instant. “Bastard,” Xander snarled under his breath, but he kept reading.
