“It's all my fault. Everything that happened to you is my fault; I should be the one dead. I'll never be happy, I promise to never be happy.” Tears kept streaming down my face, a quiet, soundless waterfall of sorrow. My body shook slightly, but my mouth was clamped shut, stifling any audible sobs. I cried silently, hiding my pain from the world, as if afraid to let others see the depth of my emotions. Each tear that fell was a testament to the weight I carried, a physical manifestation of the grief, hurt, or frustration that had become too much to bear. My eyes, red-rimmed and puffy, were the only giveaway, a window to the storm raging within.

I sat on top of the car, and I could hear him cussing me out inside. I thought, "Austin, even if I survived the mountains, I would be resting in bed from the shock. I wouldn't have the energy to bring up a divorce." After my death, my body could no longer produce tears. Still, I touched my dry eyes as I yelled into the night. I called Austin a jerk, but only I could hear my own voice. Luna chuckled like she had just won a battle. "Let's drink! Forget about Ruby. I've called Howard and the others to join us. Let's drink until we pass out!"

But when I began to blink, that's when my tears started falling one by one. I didn't even know I was already on the edge of crying. I only just realized it when I was already crying. And when the tears had started to fall, it had become unstoppable already. No matter how many times I tell myself to start crying, and no matter how many times I wipe away the tears, it still won't stop. It just kept on falling and falling...just like what my world has sort of become after what my father had told me a while ago.

“But I can stop you from making it worse.” The moment he said those last words—*I can stop you from making it worse*—something inside me snapped, and I lowered my head and broke into tears. Sobs ripped out of my chest before I could swallow them down, and my hand flew to my mouth, but the tears were already spilling down my face—hot and unstoppable. “Oh my God!” I cried out loud, and thankfully, the loud music was louder, else everyone would have heard my ugly cry. “I can’t… I can’t do this.”

Silence takes over. "You make it so hard for me to say no." I add softly. My face starts to tremble and I break down and start crying, in front of Cole. The rain still soaked our bodies, it doesn't stop for anyone, neither does life. I fall to the grass and hold my legs to my chest. My already wet face presses against my soaked clothing. My tears don't help.

“You know you can cry. You don’t have to act rough. You don’t have to hold it in. Just cry. And if you need someone to hold you, I’d be here.” Hearing him say that seemed to switch off something in my head. I tried to stop the tears from falling. I swear to God, I tried. But I couldn’t control how my heart constricted like I was going to have a heart attack. I couldn’t hide how it felt like I was going to die and it hurt so fucking badly. I couldn’t hide how the hot ugly tears fell from my eyes and I fell on my knees. A wretched sob tore from my throat, my nose running as I wailed.

I can't help the tears in my eyes again. How is it?
