Zane snapped finally losing his patience. "You should be grateful I did not snap your neck when I had the chance, I just wasn't in the mood to kill then, but I will not hesitate to do so if you do no control the way you speak to me" he growled and Ace immediately sensed his wolf was close to surfacing, good thing he was not near him or he would have been six feet under before he would blink. "Now back to my question, what happened to her in a dungeon for her to have been traumatized by it," Zane asked in a commanding tone.

And I knew, with every breath, the walls were closing in. ****** I made my way to the library. The library was drenched in silence when I slipped inside, the only light spilling from the faint glow of runes etched into the spines of old tomes. The air smelled of parchment and dust, but beneath it, I caught the sharper scent of fire, of him. Zane was already there, leaning against one of the carved tables, his eyes glinting in the low light like he owned the room. “You move recklessly,” he said softly, the words carrying weight despite how quiet they were. His smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth, but his eyes were dark, searching.

Her mouth and throat were hot and dry from nervous anticipation. Past conversations with her aunt about zombies surfaced in her mind. Panic threatened to consume all reason as the movement grew closer. She did her best to focus on what she’d learned from those conversations. Her aunt had encountered a few mutants in the early years of the apocalypse. She said little about it, but Kendra could tell that whatever her aunt was forced to do had an unpleasant impact on her aunt’s soul.

She didn’t speak, but the way she looked at Zane said everything. Zane then turned to Cain, giving him a curt nod. He then opened the gift and his eyes widened with surprise. It was a book about animals and fauna in the national state part that was right next to their pack ground. The boy gulped and held his breath as if he was scared to show the full extent of his excitement. “It’s alright, Cain,” Zane said softly, ruffling his son’s hair. “Strength is important, but doing the things we love is important too.” He smiled softly, his eyes watery. “I’m so sorry for losing sight of that.”

"Yeah," I murmur. "We will." **** Zane is waiting at the bottom of the stairs when I come down, leaning against the banister with his arms crossed and his grey eyes tracking me from the moment I appear at the top. He's already dressed— dark shirt, dark pants, that easy authority he wears like a second skin— but there's something different about him this morning.

The web was too tangled. Zane’s gaze lingered on mine for a moment longer than it should have. He was waiting for me to speak. I didn’t say anything after a while, so he nodded stiffly. He took a last look at the papers peeking out from my pillow. “Have a good night, Ms. Ibe.” And then he walked away. ##

I wake up in bed with Zane wrapped around me, even though I told him to stay away. Right now, Dante hates me. They all do, and Zane cuddling me won’t help. I try to move, but his hands grasp me tighter. Wiggling free, I climb from the bed. I step across the room, grab out some clothes and pick up a book.

Well, that went well, not that I ever expected anything different this mountain of a man has so much love to give, and even though baby number three was a complete surprise, I still have visions of a possible baby number four or five. Zane comes from a big family and is happiest when surrounded by his children, nieces and nephews, and the ever-growing children of the Swift family. He is just amazing, My big cuddly teddy bear! Authors note I am so sad this story has come to an end. It's been an emotional one for me after losing my Mum, my biggest fan, I found it so hard to get my head back into writing, but I made a vow to finish this for her and today I did.
