"Thank you so much for completing our collaboration." Layla sighed deeply, not feeling very happy. "But I still lost to Lila."

She slid it across the table. “Three hundred units.” Tunde hesitated. “I was told it could go for five.” She let out a dry laugh. “Then whoever told you that was either setting you up or sending you to your grave. Take the three.” He looked down at the shard, then at her. Then picked up the chip. “Deal.” Glitch gave a slight nod. “Good choice. But a word of advice: if you’re planning something stupid, like smuggling yourself into the Citadel don’t come back here. You won’t get a second deal.”

I was the only place in the entire estate where no one looked at me and saw a mistake. That morning I carried my treasures there: the porcelain doll’s hand, the black scale (now wrapped in silk and hidden inside a tin box), and a book I had stolen from the library (The Chronicles of Eldoria, Volume III, the one with the torn page that showed a serpent prince with eyes of living fire). I was tracing the outline of his face with a finger when I heard humming. Soft. Sweet. Like warm honey dripping off a spoon. Isla toddled around the corner, dragging a stuffed rabbit twice her size. She wore a white dress embroidered with tiny roses, grass stains already on the hem. Her curls were tied with blu

"How am I supposed to look her in the eye after what she did?" Jerry argued. He reasoned, pushed, reminded him of every consequence. Vance's answer never changed. He would not complete the ritual. Not now, not like this. Neither man had a way out. They just refused to admit it out loud. Zelda, on the other hand, quietly began preparing for hers. She approached one of her servants as casually as she could. "Has anyone ever survived the heat without completing the ritual?" she asked. The servant hesitated before nodding. "It's very difficult, but it can be done."

Wolfgang raised the corner of his lips, and he approached Selina. When their faces were only ten centimeters apart, Wolfgang stopped moving. "you aren't human." Selina was see-through by Wolfgang, and her heart suddenly beat faster than usual. She didn't know why she was discovered, but she better not tell the truth. "Why am I not human?" Wolfgang saw that she was still stubbornly denying it, so he did not hesitate to take out the knife he always carried. Selina was also taken by surprise by Wolfgang's actions. He took a knife and cut himself into the flesh of his arm. But the strange thing was that the wound quickly returned to normal as if it had never happened.

"She referred to material I've never seen before." The book. Riley took another swallow of his drink. He knew all about the book the Volkas guarded so closely. Once they'd shared their secret with him, Mike had shown him Legends of the Wolf, the volume that held all the secrets to his ancestry. Not many people knew of its existence or would have had their interest piqued by it. To them, it would be just another reference volume.

It was too late now, though. The furrows in Judy’s forehead deepened as she tried to fathom just exactly what Leesa was trying to tell her. “I don’t understand. What do you mean, he’s not human? What else could he possibly be?” “He’s a volkaane, Mom.” Judy looked more confused than ever. “A volk what?” “A volkaane, Mom. A volkaane.” Judy clearly had no idea what Leesa was talking about. “What the heck is a volkaane? I’ve never heard that word.”

“Well, that’s Princess Wolf Enim-saj.” “Princess Wolf Enim-saj, really?” I turned to look at him, raising one of my eyebrows. “Yes, Princess Wolf Enim-saj.” He had a silly grin on his face. “She was a beautiful, beautiful wolf with amber-colored eyes. So beautiful that Zeus wanted her all to himself. But Enim-saj was not interested in Zeus and preferred a more handsome and stronger gentleman wolf name Ekul.” I laughed and Luke continued. “Artemis saw how perfect the two wolves were for each other, so she blessed them as mates.”

However, it turns out that none of it will work out! Despite the thoughts coursing through Lotus’ mind, she waved her hand and gave a fawning smile. “How can it be? I already planned to reach out to you tonight.” Zelda parted from Lotus and scoffed. “You think I just know you?” Her attention was grabbed by the cute Maeva who was staring at her, and her expression softened. Zelda stretched out her hands toward Maeva, and she coaxed softly, “Cute baby, come to Godmother.” Maeva obediently let herself be carried by Zelda and obediently called, “Godmother.”
