“I’m not blind,” I reassured her, though my own doubts were gnawing at me. “We’ll keep our eyes on her and if she slips up, we’ll end it. Together.”
Zoey looked at me, searching for any sign of weakness. When she found none, she let out a slow breath. “Okay.”
“Come,” I said, taking her hand. “Walk with me.”
We stepped outside into the morning sun, the air sharp and fresh. Warriors moved around the courtyard, keeping watch, their expressions as tense as I felt. Zoey kept close to my side, eyes scanning every shadow.
