Zoe beamed as she scratched behind the pitbull puppy’s ears. “Uh, perhaps you should let me take over, Miss Justice,” I said, clearing my throat, trying to move her away from the table. “But why?” she questioned with confusion written all over her face. “Just a safety precaution with Titus being a pit and all.” “Dr. Parker, he’s a puppy, and I’m fine. The only thing keeping me in this weakened state was my knowledge that a full change would frighten the human guards. Her blood ran cold on the sight before her, judging from what she could see she was the most covered of all the other pets, many of them were naked and some wore clothes that left little to nothing for imagination. Amber and Elias flank him on either side, their faces unreadable. They look like statues carved from the mountain itself, firm, immovable, and silently dangerous.
