The silver was gone, hidden once again beneath a layer of black. Relief washed over me, quickly followed by frustration. I smacked the bathroom sink hard with the palm of my hand, the sound echoing in the small space. “Dammit!”

I stare at my swollen face in the mirror and wipe the single tear that rolls down. I’m trying to figure out a way to cover up the black eye. I was kind of hoping it would have disappeared by today, but it seems like the weekend wasn’t enough for it to heal. I’m not even sure how much concealer it will take to cover up the bruise.

This whole situation is making me go bonkers literally! I hardly sleep, when I do it's barely two hours each night, if I'm lucky. I don't recognize myself in the mirror. I have lost alot of weight causing my face to sink in around my cheek bones and eyes.

Unconsciously, I found myself back at the gym, punching the same bag repeatedly until my knuckles bled, and I was out of breath with dark spots dancing in front of my eyes. I failed. I fucking failed.

I nodded and agreed. On the last piece of paper, my handwriting was so messy that it was hardly legible. It was as if I'd used up the last of my strength to write it down.
