The thrusting of my mate in my body, was causing me pain, but I was happy to know that I had found my mate, Maxwell Sampson. He was the soon to be named Alpha for our pack, Red Pines Pack. I was an Omega, and I was an embarrassment to my family. My family had never disillusioned me. My fate as a she-wolf was to serve the Pack. Maxwell promised me it did not matter that I was an Omega, as he dragged me into the closet at the school we were attending.
Our Pack often hosted events where our Packs would visit one another. I had met Maxwell when I was young and had loved him for years. Yes, he bullied me as we got older. Being an Omega, you kind of expected those things. But as soon as our mate bond clicked, all of that disappeared and it was just the two of us.
He never abused me, like the others did. I was one of the few Omegas in our Pack and school. As such, there was always someone around to remind you of your place in the Pack world. I hated it, but I knew the Moon Goddess would bless me with an amazing mate, who would one day protect me from all the abuse.
As Maxwell was thrusting into my body harder, I whimpered as the pain got more intense. He did not seem to hear me, but I knew first times were always like this. It must be almost over. He suddenly pulled out of me, and thinking it was done, I started to smile when he turned me around and braced my hands against the table I had been sitting on.
He entered me from behind, and it started again, but I did not say anything. I simply bit my lip, waiting for it to be over so I could be with my mate. As he went faster, I heard him groan out his release, slumping over my body. I basked in the warmth of his body wrapped around mine, knowing that I had given my mate pleasure.
I looked back towards Maxwell’s face, hoping for a kiss, when he slipped out of me and did his pants up. I slowly turned around fixing my clothes. He had been in such a rush; we had not taken our clothes off. That was the mate bond. Exciting and unpredictable, I thought with a smile.
I looked to Maxwell shyly, “Was it alright?” I asked. “Was what alright?” he replied, confused. “Me, was our love making alright?” I clarified. He looked distracted, “Umm yeah, sure it was alright,” he said bringing a smile to my face. “I need to go to class,” he mumbled as he opened the door to the janitor’s closet and walked out leaving me on my own.
I felt the sting of tears, but I realized he was already late for his class, while I had study hour in the library. I gathered my bookbag, cringing at the discomfort between my legs. Then I smiled, I was a woman now. I had a mate. My wolf came to me last night at midnight since it was my eighteenth birthday today. Her name is Layla, and she told me I would not shift today as most do. I was special and I needed to wait.
I was disappointed, but she had yipped in excitement that we had found our mate. I could not wait to get home and tell my parents that their Omega daughter who had embarrassed them over the years was mated with the future Alpha of the Red Pines Pack.
The rest of the day passed quickly. I had not seen Maxwell all day and sadly he left before I could see him again. Before I could tell him goodbye and make plans to see him later. I understood, he was busy with his Alpha lessons, and I needed to respect that. Afterall, I was going to be a Luna one day soon and would be in training myself.
Taking the bus home to the Red Pines Pack, I ignored those bullying me on the bus. I was basking in the thrilling thoughts that I had a mate. And he was not just any mate, but an Alpha mate. I was going to be a Luna. A fair Luna. One who treated all pack members well.
I would wait until Maxwell deemed it appropriate to tell everyone we were mates. I did not want to embarrass him by pushing him too quickly.
I got home, made supper for my family, did my homework, and then went to get ready for bed. My family tolerated my existence. My father was the Gamma of our Pack, so my mother was the Gamma female. There had been expectations, that all their children would be from the Gamma blood line. For some reason that was not the case with me. My sister – older by a year – was a Gamma and my younger brother was a Gamma, but for some reason I was born an Omega.
My family had ensured I always knew my place. I served my parents and my siblings all their meals, I worked in our Pack house on special occasions such as mating Galas, celebratory ceremonies. I cooked, cleaned … whatever was needed. And whenever I was needed, my parents made me work the events, while they collected my pay.
The Alpha and Beta families were disappointed with me as well. They made no secret of their disgust with me, but I was never beaten publicly, so I took that as a small win. The Alpha and Beta children took turns bullying me and abusing me, but they were never punished even though everyone knew it was happening.
I went to get into the shower, surprised at the blood inside my white panties. Now that I had a mate, I would need to get special panties and bras. Whatever he liked, I would wear. My mother never allowed me to get anything special, saying I did not deserve it. So, I made do with the plain underwear I had.
I wondered what Maxwell was doing right now. I wanted to be with him. Not have sex, I was still sore. But to be in his arms, to be protected by him. After my shower I went to lay in bed, when the first twinges of pain raced through my body. I had no idea what it meant, but the pain increased in intensity.
I screamed out in agony, trying to curl myself into my body. I was a ball of pain, when my mother entered my room. “What the hell is going on? What are you screaming for?” my mother demanded. I lay there, with tears streaming from my eyes, “I do not know. I have burning pain in my stomach,” I replied as another wave of pain hit me.
She looked at me in disgust. “Did you meet your mate today?” she asked me, annoyed by the next howl I let out. “Yes,” I bit out, trying to breathe through the pain. “Well, your mate is having sex with somebody else,” she said, as she looked at me with a surprising look of pity. “That is not possible,” I muttered, as another wave rolled over my body.
I gasped in pain, as my mother leaned down towards me. I thought she was going to console me; however, she simply muttered, “Did you really believe you would be enough for any mate?”.
The pain carried on for a couple of hours. My wolf howled in my head. She had tried to take the pain for me, but it was too intense for her. She would not confirm what my mother had said was the truth and simply receded to the back of my mind.
It could not be. I would not believe it. Something was wrong with me; I just knew it. I needed Maxwell but had no way to connect with him. As an Omega, our linking abilities were limited to family. Unless we were mated and then we could connect with our mate as well.
More pain rolled over me in waves, as I curled into a tight ball, silent tears rolling down my cheeks.
Marly POV I stood there frozen in time. Just waiting. Watching for a sign. And suddenly I noticed a hole in the middle of the Rogue King’s forehead and blood dripping from it. As the Rogue King slumped forward, he had a look of shock on his face. Trapped in a moment of time where he lost his life. As he fell, I heard screaming from around the compound. They were screams of distress. A sound of those who had lost someone important to them. Suddenly I was surrounded by warriors with rage on their faces. I realized I was in more danger now that the Rogue King was dead. I held up my hands to try and talk reason with those surrounding me, but it was no use. They were distraught and did not know what to do now that their leader was gone. “Everybody, hear me out,” I heard from behind the crowd. Someone had stepped forward to grab my arms, pulling them behind my back. Alex had stepped forward, “You are safe now
Marly POV I felt the bullet hit my arm and I went down, with Alex covering my body. “Let me up,” I muttered as I removed the silver bullet from my arm. It had burned going in and being pulled out, but I had managed to remove the bullet on my own. These talents kept growing stronger and I wondered if it had anything to do with Alex being by my side. He looked down and was shaken when he saw the wound had been healed. “How did you do that?” he asked. “I have no idea, but I am grateful,” I responded, as we quickly took in the scene around us. The Rogue King was shouting at his warriors for shooting me. And he was trapped by staying within the walls of the compound not knowing what was happening. “Marly!?!” he yelled, “Tell me you are alive!” he shouted. I did not respond, nor did Alex. We did not want to calm the Rogue King and knowing I was alive would calm him down immediately. I knew some of our snipers had taken out the s
Carson POV I had said goodbye to a very calm Marly an hour ago. We were approaching the border as I reached out to Marly by our mind-link. “You understand, don’t you Marly?” I asked, needing assurance she was okay. “Of course, Carson. You are the strong man, and I am the weak, little woman you left behind,” she responded. I shook my head; there was the attitude I had expected earlier. “You know that is not true,” I responded, with a smile. “I know you are ridiculous to think you can shut me away every time things are dangerous,” she said cutting off our connection. What did she mean, “think I can shut her out”? She wouldn’t be following us, would she? I whipped around scanning the tree line, but I saw nothing. She was just trying to catch me off guard. I slowly turned back to the border. We were anticipating a potential ambush, so we had more than our share of warriors with us. We had also brought weapons, wanting to b
Marly POV I sat there listening to Alex go over everything with everyone. I could not help but feel sadness for him. Sadness that everyone was questioning his integrity. Questioning just how much he was going to do to help the Rogue King get what he has wanted all along. But I knew the truth. I knew Alex was good, and he would die trying to help get Carson’s mother back. But I could not let that happen. I would be going when they went to rescue Carson’s mother. I knew Carson would disagree, but I had already made my mind up. I would have to be there to help save anybody who was injured. I was getting stronger with my talents, and I knew I would be able to help faster being there. All the planning was done, and it was agreed we would leave after dark tonight. Carson had already identified his team of warriors and those who would go tonight. Of course, he did not include me. As everyone left the conferenc
Carson POV I had no idea what was happening, until I saw the knife sticking out of the Rogue King’s chest. I felt the dead silence of the room, before the Rogues protecting the Rogue King started yelling and dragging the Rogue King from the diner. We all tried to get to them, but then gunfire ensued, and we were all held back while they made a quick escape. I covered Marly’s body as she tried to claw her way out from under me. “Let me go. I can get him,” she was screaming. I ignored her and looked around to see the King doing the same with Alex. Alex was trying to get out the door. Once we heard tires squeal away, the bullets stopped flying. “Is everyone okay?” I yelled, as the glass stopped breaking in the windows. Slowly, in shock, people were responding they were fine. I felt Marly over, trying to assure myself she had not been hit. “I am good, Carson,” she kept repeating but I was struggling to believe it.
Marly POV “No fucking way!” Carson replied angrily, turning away from the Rogue King. “He has no leverage. Let’s get the fuck out of here,” Carson said, taking my hand to pull me away from the scene in front of me. The King and Queen start to turn away from the Rogue King as well, effectively dismissing him. “Do not turn your backs on me!!!” the Rogue King raged. “They are alive!” he yelled as he gestured for someone beyond the diner. As we stood there watching the blacked-out SUV pull up to the door, there was a commotion as the Rogues jumped out dragging someone from the vehicle. I felt Carson tense beside me. We could not see the face of the man pulled from the vehicle, but it seemed as though Carson might recognize him. Carson released my hand as he moved to exit the diner. “Not so fast Lycan Alpha,” the Rogue King stated, stopping Carson in his tracks. Carson turned to look at the Rogue King, “I will n
