“What?” I ask. He chuckles at my confused state. “I swear you make me confused on purpose.”
“Only because you are so cute when you’re confused.” He kisses the top of my nose. I scrunch my nose and he chuckles as we continue our walk. “So, did you ever think about me?”
I take a moment to think about his question.
“Did I ever think about my mate? Not really. When I was younger, I knew unless I was a wolfs mate, I wouldn’t get a real mate. So I thought about marrying someone that I deeply loved. I thought about a wedding and a family. Growing old with my husband. Then with Ben, that dream was crushed. I thought about it less and less. I just hoped to fall in love one day. Nothing spectacular. Just something sweet and safe. <
