Klaire was clearly uncomfortable with the topic but Ava needed to know more. Her childhood could very well be the root of her issues and so getting more information was the only way she would be able to figure that out. From what she had heard so far, she guessed that Klaire was lonely and had no one to call her own, and now she is overcompensating for that as an adult.

"Who was the person who left you with the biggest wound. The person you feel the most betrayed by?"

Klaire shifted. Her hands gripped her skirt and her eyebrows scrunched. "My mother." she swallowed. "I looked up to her and thought she was the most amazing person but she always ignored me and handed me off to my grandparents. But it's not like it was any better with them. They hated me too."
