“Caleb, call your dad. We’re going to eat now,” Bea ordered as she put the pancakes on the table.
Caleb walked towards him and grinned. “Dad, Miss Bea said that we are going to eat now.”
Callum nodded his head as he followed his son. He saw Bea already seated and Caleb sat beside her. He chose the seat across from her which he immediately regretted because he suddenly felt so awkward. Just why the heck was he feeling that way? He was supposed to be an adult so why was he acting all embarrassed from a child’s teasing?
He noticed that Bea cut the pancake into small sizes before she put the plate in front of Caleb. She was truly thoughtful towards him, huh?
“Miss Bea’s pancakes are so good! You should try it.” Caleb looked at him as he put one small piece of pancake in his mouth.
Callum looked at his son and nodded. It seemed that Caleb was no longer shy towards him thanks to that outing. It was be
“We’re going to hang out today,” Callum said as they were walking towards the parking lot. “Is there anything you want to do in the mall?”Caleb smiled. They were going to the mall! It had been a while since he went to the mall with his father so he was somehow excited. Especially, since Bea would be joining them.“I want to go shopping for clothes and toys. I also want to watch movies…” He paused as he thought about the things that he would want to do. “I also want to eat at a restaurant and play games in the arcade!”“Since you requested those, then we will do all of those!” Bea said in an enthusiastic voice. The young child was so happy. It felt as if he was having a date with his own family. He always thought that it would be impossible for him to experience such a thing because his father was always busy and he already lost his mom the moment he was born.Since he m
They watched a family drama and Caleb felt envious every time there were scenes of the happy family being portrayed in the movie. The family looked happy though there were problems that they experienced. It was a family that grows closer the more they were in a bind.He looked at his father and he saw an expected expression on his face. It was a bored expression as if he was not convinced with what was happening in the movie.Their family… was not a normal family. They were both aware of that. Unlike many other families, they were only related by blood. Family members do not share affection towards each other, especially the siblings. His grandfather was not close to his father’s uncle. His father did not like his uncle as well.He knew that having a sibling was not fun so he was relieved that he did not have any. At least his father had no plans of giving him a younger sibling so he did not have to be hostile to someone younger than him.&ld
“I want to be your son.”Bea was surprised when she heard Caleb whisper it on her ears. Did he even know what would happen if she becomes his mother? Of course, she would not do it. But even if her resolve was clear, she could not bring herself to tell him no.“Should I try the claw machine?” Bea asked Caleb. “Is there anything you want from there?”Caleb looked at the contents of the claw machine and he saw a fluffy teddy bear.“Can I have that one?” Caleb pointed at the panda.“Let’s see if I can get it.” Bea smiled as she put a token on the slot. She moved the crane carefully until it was aligned with the bear. She pressed the button then she saw the look of excitement in Caleb’s eyes when the claw grasped the bear. However, the bear dropped before it reached the prize slot.“Ow.” Caleb sounded disappointed.“Let’s try again.” Bea
“I’m done choosing the outfits.” Bea handed them the matching outfits that she chose for them. “Now, try this on. You two.”Callum and Caleb obediently went inside the fitting room to change outfits. Bea looked at the sales lady who was grinning widely while looking at her. What was her deal?“Did you see the smile on your husband’s face when you handed him the outfit that you chose for him?” the sales lady teased.“Did he smile?” Bea scoffed. Well, she saw him smile often since they went to the pool so it was not something new to her anymore.“And your son is so cute!” the sales lady added. She already said that earlier. She took her phone out and tried to browse the web while waiting for the two to finish changing.“We’re wearing matching outfits!” Caleb exclaimed as soon as he was out of the fitting room.Bea’s smile was ear to ear when
“Yes. We’re not done yet.”Bea looked at Caleb with confused eyes but she decided to just let it go. If there was something that they want to buy, then they could just go and buy it. She was just tagging along anyway.Caleb and Bea followed Callum’s lead and they found themselves entering a store for women’s clothing. Was he seeing someone? Well, that would be good if the woman would care for Caleb as if he was her own.“We’re going to tour around the store. You should tell me if you want something.” Callum carried his son and went on his way.If he was going to give something to the person he was seeing, should he not ask him for suggestions since she was also a woman? Or did he not trust her tastes and style?Bea rolled her eyes. Whatever. Since he told her to look around, then she would do it. It was not like she could not afford to buy some of her clothes. She walked towards a rack and look
She tried a few more clothes and she suddenly felt conscious about the cameras, Callum’s and Caleb’s phones, taking pictures of her. After trying on all the clothes, she went out with the last outfit and she noticed that it was a red cropped top sweater paired with a high waist gray plaid pants. The sales lady’s smile grew wide when she saw her last outfit and looked at the two. After taking pictures, Bea was about to go back to the fitting room to change back into her clothes but Callum walked towards her and stopped her.“We’re taking all of this… and she’ll be wearing this.” He took the price tag on her clothes and handed them to the saleslady.Though confused, Bea followed the others towards the cashier.“Why would you let me wear something that was supposed to be a gift to someone?” Bea asked Callum in a whisper.“What are you saying?” Callum asked without even loo
It was morning the next day and Bea was told to wait for Callum in front of the hotel. Since it would be the last day that she would be spending in the city, Callum wanted Caleb to spend time with her on the way and he was willing to be their driver for that day.“Did you wait long?” Callum asked as soon as Bea entered the car.“No.” Bea looked behind her and she saw Caleb on his car seat. “He’s asleep.”“Just let him. He was tired yesterday.” Callum started driving towards the studio while Bea kept her silence on the way.It really was the last day. It was the last shoot. Tomorrow, she would be on the bus home. She felt mixed emotions once more. Though it had been short, her experience with them was memorable. The city gave her something to smile and cry about. Despite the pain that she felt on her first day, the city gave her something to look back on.It was short-lived, but unforgetta
The eyes were back on them as soon as they were out from the dressing rooms. The staff looked at her and some gave her a teasing grin while the others gave her a jealous look. She looked at Callum and saw that he was back with his poker face as if it was his expression during work hours. Was he not getting tired from having such a blank expression?Even the photographer looked shocked that they had been close after just a week. But after a while, the photographer grinned and mumbled, “I think it would be easy taking the shots today.”“Are we all ready?” Margaret asked while her eyes roamed around checking whether everyone was around. One of the staff raised her hand. “The guests were still on the way. Should we start and just let the guests catch up?”“We still have time so we could wait for a little while.” Margaret looked at her wristwatch and sat on the side. The three walked on the side sin
