Alora POV

"She saw." one of the guards said, looking in the direction of the warm body I had earlier bumped into.

The Hulk stepped forward. "Seize her and lock her up. The Alpha will decide her punishment."

I barely had time to react before I was shoved to the ground, a heavy boot pressing against my back.

"Who sent you?" a deep voice growled above me.

"No one! I…I came on my own, please just let me go and I promise nobody will know about this, "I pleaded, tears beginning to form.

A heavy silence followed. Then, a chuckle. "Take her to the cells. Let’s see what she knows." the deep voice of the Hulk resonated.

“No, bring her to me” another deep voice that sent shivers down my spine echoed.

I felt myself being dragged away as I struggled against my captor. I was visibly shaking as I was shoved and I tripped against my feet but instead of landing on my butt, I felt strong arms.

The moment our skin touched, a sizzling heat rushed through me. He hissed and turned me around to face him and that's when our eyes met.

Once his dark blue eyes met my hazel ones, he stiffened and halted.

My chest constricted and the only sound I could hear was the thumping of my heart in my ears, and for a moment, he felt familiar to me, like I knew him from somewhere…but where? I shook my head, that's impossible.

Then instinctively, my eyes roamed around his perfectly sculpted body.

He wore a white tank top that clung to every muscle in his body and left nothing to the imagination and a baggy jeans trouser, just like mine.

His shoulder length jet black hair was tied to the back while some tendrils of it escaped and framed his face, making him look very young and extremely handsome.

I could not seem to tear my eyes off his unnaturally handsome face.

I could feel the heat radiating off him in waves and somehow I felt a sense of peace in his intimidating presence.

His eyes roamed over my body too making me self-conscious but warm.

He took a step closer to me and then another as if a force was pulling him to me.

He got so close that I instinctively pushed against his massive chest and I shivered from the heat radiating from him.

Somewhere in the crowd, I heard someone gasp and before I could process what was happening, he framed my face with his very large palm, drawing me even closer, his eyes still burning into me.

Once his palms framed my face, a sharp bolt of pleasure shot up my body and pooled in my groin. I gasped softly as the sensation traveled through me.

Maybe he noticed because his bright blue eyes darkened and his grip tightened.

Looking at him at the moment was like an aphrodisiac. I bit my lips as another bolt of pleasure shot up my spine.

What was it with this man that made me lose so much control?

He tugged at my lips, his gesture trying to stop me from biting them.

I released them immediately and tried to look down so I would stop feeling all the electricity going through my body.

Our cocoon was broken when I was shoved violently, the action making me stumble and fall butt first to the ground.

I turned in the direction of the shove and I saw a live Barbie.

She was not just tall, skinny, and extremely beautiful, she knew a thing or two about dressing.

She was tall and her short red hair, and brown eyes gave her an air of mystery. She had curves in all the right places, and she appeared so graceful and confident.

“How dare you touch the alpha” she screeched.

“Violet, do not lay your hands on her.” the man in front of me growled, stepping in between us.

“But…” she stammered.

“Nobody touches her but me. I will ask all the questions.” His voice was thunderous as if mingled with that of a wild beast. His body seemed to gain volume and his body became hairier.

“Are we clear? He asked the barbie beside him. She nodded and bowed her head slightly before stepping away.

He then stretched his hand out to help me to my feet.

“Which pack do you come from”? He asked in a more gentler tone.

I furrowed my brows. “This is the only park I know and I swear I only came here for the food” I pleaded, looking him straight in the eyes even when my insides screamed for me to fall on his knees and beg for mercy for what I knew nothing of.

“And you expect me to believe that crap”? He hundred, advancing towards me again like a predator.

“Look, I am sorry if I disrespected your wedding ceremony or whatever is going on here. It wasn’t intentional and I’ll just leave if you could be kind enough to tell our guards to let me out”. I pleaded.

“She is lying,” the red-haired barbie who attacked me earlier accused. By this time, tears were rolling down my cheeks.

On seeing my tears, Mr bulky ponytail let go of my arm, making me stagger backward.

“Let her go,” he thundered.

My heart soared. I was finally going to leave this place.

“Thank you so much. I promise I didn't see anything. I was never in this park today and I promise you will never see or hear from me ever again”

“Leave!” he thundered again with his deep voice and I took to my heels without looking back.

By the time I got home, the sun had dipped and it was beginning to get dark.

As I stepped into the compound, another horror was waiting for me. It felt like I was in a vicious cycle or loop of bad luck and omen.

The twenty-four-hour ultimatum has not yet expired but the landlord had already flung my scanty properties outside and locked the door with another key.

I felt my leg give way as I knelt on the floor close to my tattered luggage, buried my face in my hands, and wept until I was exhausted and hungry.

I don't know how long I stayed there before I dozed off.

The next thing I knew, I felt a looming presence behind me and a familiar scent… but this time, it was not a dream.

Before I could scream for help, I felt a piece of cloth soaked in some potent substance pressed against my nose from a hand coming from behind. .

It triggered my allergy, making me sneeze uncontrollably. I tried to scream but no sound came out from me.

Sister Charity had said I would not survive outside the walls of the orphanage. She had said leaving the orphanage was a mistake. Maybe she was right, maybe I was fated to be forgotten this way. I enabled it. This was my fate. I didn’t want this to be my fate. I didn’t want her to be right.

That was my last thought as darkness enveloped me in a thick tight embrace.

They both said in unison.“Everyone froze. Not like normal shock…frozen. Still. Eyes blank. Like time just… stopped. Except a few people at the back. Two of them…they dropped to their knees. Literally dropped. And bared their necks to me.”Morgan inhaled sharply through his nose.I pushed forward. “It was like… they didn’t know

His hair looked like he had just got out of bed.His hands were still hanging in the air, so I took it. They were warm and he had a firm grip.“My name is Michael, but my friends call me Mike,” he said, his voice deep and smooth. I live two doors down. Welcome to the neighborhood.”I nodded, unable to utter any coherent word. His hands were still in mine, and I was still looking at him speechless. Selene stepped closer to me and stretched out her hands to Michael for a handshake.“Hello Michael, thank you for the warm welcome. My palms had begun to sweat a little, so I kept my phone in my hand, pretending to scroll, just to keep them busy.I’d taken extra time getting ready that morning, maybe too much time, so much that Selene had yelled at me to come out of my room.I smiled at the memory. She was beginning to feel and sound like my mother, the one I never had. The one I had only read
