Chapter 5

-Flashback-

Barry was busy cooking his meal when he heard a knock on his door. He was in hiding because a coven of witches was hunting him. He killed a witch high priestess two months ago, and since then he has been hexed, poisoned, and almost killed multiple times.

This cabin in the middle of nowhere has been his safe haven. He actually thought that no one will ever find him. The person knocking at his door just made him realized that he was gravely mistaken. As he quietly walked towards the door, Barry prepared his gun. No one was supposed to know where he is.

"Put away the gun, Barry. It's just us." The female voice was familiar to him.

"Lori?" He asked to confirmed.

"Yes, now, could you please open the door?"

"What are you two doing here?" He asked as soon as he opened the door. "How did you find me?"

"You weren't exactly hiding very well, Barry." Andy, Lori's husband said.

"It's nice to see you too, Andy. What can I do for you?"

"The brotherhood is looking for you. You have to come back, Barry." Lori said.

"Now, why would I do that? As far as I remembered, it's the brotherhood that sent me and my best friend to hunt a witch, who, by the way, was working for the brotherhood. They didn't even tell us that this witch was part of a coven. I am never going back, not ever."

"They willing to set you free, if you will do one more job. This time, you will be working with us." Andy added.

"What job?"

"We need to hunt a prince of hell." Lori's words almost made him choke on his own saliva. Never in his entire life that he dreamed of hunting a prince of hell. Not only they are immune to any kind of bullet they have, they are also hard to trap, or bind.

"Do you guys have a death wish or something? Hunting a prince of hell? Even if we were able to find the son of a b*tch, even if we were able corner him, how are going to trap him?"

-End of Flashback-

It was the day that marked the death of the people he considered as family. They hunted the Prince of hell, and they found him. He was so convinced that the binding sigil they have was enough to bind him until they complete the excorcism rites. But, they were wrong. They were completely, insanely, and absolutely wrong. They haven't hit the half of the excorcism rites when th prince of hell broke loose.

"Uncle Barry, we're asking you a question. What is this room? Why was this hidden?" Ethan's voice snapped him out of his thoughts.

"I promised your parents that I will keep this secret the two of you for as long as I can." Barry responded with the hint of worry in his voice.

-Flashback-

It was the day of Andra's christening when Lori approached him. They used to be partners; handling all the jobs assigned to them. Spending time with each other, and going everywhere the work takes them. It actually came as a surprise to many of the members of the brotherhood that they didn't end up together. He only see Lori as a baby sister, and since the first time they worked together, he swore to protect her no matter what happens.

"Lori, what's going on?" Barry asked. She approached him with weary eyes, and he automatically knew that there's a problem.

"I need you to sign this. Andy and I talked about this, and we agreed that it should be you. We both trust you with all our hearts. Please, Barry, we need you to do this."

He took the envelop that Lori gave him. It was stamped and sealed by the County hall. The moment he opened the envelop, there's this feeling like ants are crawling at the back of his neck. Lori's face was always the telltale of her emotions, and that time, he can see how worried she was.

"You're making me Andra's and your future children's legal guardian? Lori, what the hell is going on?"

"Please, Barry, don't make me talk about it. Just sign the papers. I'm begging you."

-End of Flashback-

"When you were born, Andra, you're mother made me sign a document making me your legal guardian, as well as your future siblings. Then, before they were killed, she made sign an updated document making be responsible to all your family's assets until you reached eighteen." Barry continued explaining.

"It's like they knew that they were going to get killed, why?" Andra asked.

"There are so many things that you won't be able to understand in this world, and I love the two of you so much to put you in a very dangerous place."

"We need to know the truth, Uncle. I beg you, please. We trust you with our lives, so please, be honest with us."

Ethan left the questioning to his sister, and roamed around the room. He's scanning the things he see inside the gigantic room sitting underneath their house. He can't even imagine how they never noticed this underground room. Ever since their parents died, it was practically just the two of them. Barry has his own house in th county, and he only visited them once a week.

"Once I tell you the truth, you have to embrace the reality, and there is no going back from it. Happy life done, normal life out of thee picture." Barry announced.

Ethan was not listening because he found a book that caught his attention. It was another list, but about their lineage anymore. There are drawings in every pages, pictures of creatures that he only have seen in his worst nightmares during his childhood. But, the book seems to suggest that all those monsters exists in reality.

"Werewolves? Vampires? Witches? Gargoyles? Pyromancers? Necromancers? Do these creeps really exists?" Andra and Barry's conversation was interrupted when Ethan walked towards them with the book he found.

"I think you two better take a seat." Barry pointed to the couches in the middle of the room.
