NYSSA'S POV:

As soon as breakfast was over,I stood up and volunteered immediately to help clear the plates with Mia.

My heart slamming in my chest, I tried to pretend that I had no idea that Charlene's eyes had been all over me throughout the course of the breakfast, and that she was probably why I had a shawl tied so tightly around my neck.

To add to that, sitting so close to Roman Adams reminded me of everything that had happened the previous night while the rest of the household slept.

The kiss. His touches. My hands on his skin. His lips on mine, my body heating up as I encountered real, aching need.

I swallowed hard as I lifted his plates and he glanced at me. I would never look at him the same ever again.

There was no way I was going to pretend that what had happened yesterday was something I was going to forget quickly.

It was only after I left the dining room that I managed to breathe well.

“You look as if you've seen a ghost, Nyssa. You need to relax.”

So far, Mia was

CHARLENE'S POV:“Good afternoon, Miss Charlene.”It was Chloe, the new servant who apparently now worked as my spy. She was the one in charge of bringing my protein shake every afternoon. That way, I had the chance to be able to talk to her and know what she had seen. “Good afternoon Chloe. Beautiful afternoon, isn't it?”“Yes Miss Charlene, it really is.”I grabbed the protein shake from her, sipping it gingerly. The taste came off as sharp, just the way I had instructed that it be prepared. “Any news?”“Nothing new today, Miss Charlene. I bumped into her in the kitchen, and she was putting on a shawl. I couldn't find out what was underneath the shawl, but I'll find out this evening when she's back from the delivery company with the boss.”I sipped the protein shake, slightly irritated. “If this is going to work, Chloe, then you're going to need to put in your best. We need each other, don't we? If I'm the only one putting in the effort, then how do you think this works? It doesn'

ROMAN'S POV:When Nyssa took off the shawl, I was greeted by the sight of her beautiful neck. And at that moment, I was transported to the moment near the pool, where for the first time I had kissed her, where for the first time, I had gotten to feel the softness of her skin, where I had given her the hickey on her neck. Looking at it, I forgot about all the problems that plagued me and the entire Adams family. “Did…did… I do that?”She lowered her eyes to the floor instead of replying, then nodded.I looked away, knowing that it took every amount of self control to not walk up to her and start kissing her all over again. “Look, I've been meaning to apologize. I shouldn't have kissed you…”I glanced at the door to ensure it was closed before continuing. “I shouldn't have kissed you…”“I should be the one apologising, boss. I had no business being by the pool at that time. I'm sorry.”Glancing at her lips as she spoke, I knew without being told that my apology was as good as usele

CHARLENE'S POV:Throughout the night, I could barely sleep. I tossed from one end of the bed to another, my head aching, my insides crying out for comfort and the desperate need for physical touch. Not just any random physical touch, the physical touch of Roman Adams. And now, even after the sun peeked through the blinds, I found myself struggling to even leave the bed. The zeal to stand up and hit the gym, run and keep my body in shape seemed to be nonexistent. And it was just because of one man. What would I do to make Roman Adams see me the same way I saw him? What could I do to make him understand that I loved him way too much, that I would practically do anything for him to also love me in the same manner? As if he knew he was being thought of, he opened the door, entering the room and raising an eyebrow when he saw I was still in bed. “Good morning Charlene.”The manner in which he had spoken to me yesterday when I tried to comfort him only made his greeting infuriate me fu

NYSSA'S POV:Roman Adams, the most notorious man in Cleveland and nearby cities as a whole, had just told me to keep him company. For a moment, my mind was a blank slate. My lips parted, but the words refused to come forth. I closed them again, then spoke when I finally found the right words. “I can't…boss…I need to wake up early tomorrow…”His interruption was harsh, the voice of a man who wasn't used to taking “no” as an answer. “That wasn't a request, Nyssa. It was an order. Join me.”He sat down on one of the pool chairs, then patted at an empty one next to him. I obeyed, slightly trembling. “Why can't you sleep, Nyssa?”I looked at my feet before replying. No matter how much he promoted me, I knew I would never feel fulfilled in the Adams estate. I would never feel as if I fully belonged. That was something I was sure of. “I miss my father. I miss going to school..”“You were sold to me as the repayment of the debt your mother owed, Nyssa. You're not here because I want you

ROMAN'S POV:Once again, Mia had outdone herself. I wanted to eat something different from the normal, so I had instructed her to surprise me. And surprise she had done. By the time I was eating my second helping, I was about to swear that it was the best Spaghetti Bolognese I had ever tasted. “How do you like your meal, Nyssa?”After the visit to her house in order to drop the groceries and supplies she had requested I bought, she had looked sad throughout. And now, even on the dinner table with me, she still looked sad. She ate slowly, and her mind was anywhere but on the food. “It's good, boss. Thank you.”I poured myself a cup of champagne, not knowing if to feel guilty towards her plight. I turned to Charlene, who like the previous day had still not welcomed the idea of Nyssa sharing the table with us. Her lips were turned down in an enormous frown, and I knew without being told that cracking a joke or asking her a question was going to end up in uncontrolled chaos. She was
