FLAVIA'S POV

The three of us stood in the living room as we watched Louis go up the stairs. I can't believe that I just cost Alison her job just because I was trying to get on his nerves... Now I understand why she was pleading and I promised her nothing will happen but I was so wrong.

"What just happened?" Jaz asked curiously, confused as to why he just fired her like that.

"It's my fault, he is mad that I took his favorite drink and I sat on his special couch." I honestly feel bad for getting Alison involved in this mess, I should have just listened to her. "You know what, just go home. I will fix things." I said and then I saw Jazmine off to the door.

By the time I got back, Alison was crying and it hurts to see her like that, especially because it's my fault. I mean she's such a bubbly girl and I really need to get back her job.

"I'm so sorry Alison, this is my fault and I am going to fix it. Please just stay here, I will talk to him." I assured but she shook her head.

"Don't worry about it Miss, there is no need to talk to him. He won't change his mind, he is very angry with me." She stated but I still have to try, I can't just give up when I am the one at fault here.

"Don't worry, I will still talk to him, just wait here." I said before rushing up the stairs.

I stood right in front of his door nervously, praying that God touches his heart and let him listen to my plea, I really don't want her to lose her job... I knocked a couple of times but I got no response, so I decided to go in. He probably knows why I am here and he doesn't want to see me.

"Wow." I whispered to myself as I entered his room. It's nothing like I imagined.

It's like three times the size of my room, the designs theme is black and grey and it's extremely neat. Everything is arranged and in place, the room is perfect and I honestly didn't expect his space to be this organized. "Wow." I kept looking around and I wonder where he is but I don't have any plans to leave until I see him and plead on Allison's behalf.

As I moved around his room, I realized that he is in the bathroom when I got close to the door and I heard the running shower, so I decided to sit and wait. "This is perfect." I murmured as I sat on his perfect bed with the sheets and blankets in the right places. I have never seen a more well arranged bed before and it smells so nice... I sat there for a while, waiting for him to step out and after a while, I decided to lay on his bed while I wait.

I have been sitting all day and it's exhausting. "What the actual fuck are you doing on my bed?" He suddenly asked and I didn't realize he was done from the bathroom till I heard his voice.

"I was waiting for you." I pointed out as I got up and I quickly fixed the mess I made on the bedspread while lying down.

"Is it just me or are you actively trying to get on my fucking nerves?" He asked and I shook my head because right now, I need him to listen to me and forgive Alison, the last thing I need is to annoy him even more. "So, why then were you on my bed? Who the hell permitted you to come into my room?" He asked angrily but all I can see is his cuteness.

Standing in front of me with his chubby self, shirtless and wet from the shower with a massive towel around his waist. The towel is big enough to make two people a dress and he just looks so cute.

"I'm sorry, I wanted to see you and I knocked for a long time but when I didn't get any response, I decided to come and wait." I said politely.

"What do you want?" He asked as he carried a smaller towel to dry his hair.

"I just came to beg you to please forgive Alison, it's all my fault. Please pardon her and give her another chance."

"In as much as I would have loved to put the blame on you because of how annoying you her, it's really not your fault. You are new here and Alison knows exactly how I like my things, so it's her duty to tell you to take your paws off my drink but since she didn't, she will remain fired." Honestly, I am so upset that he is trying to fire someone because of a drink but I can't be upset right now, I need to keep my cool.

"Hmmm, she actually did but I insisted. I am sorry, I just didn't see the big deal about the drink. I mean, you are very rich and you can buy as many packs as you want." I said truthfully.

"Wow, so you wanted to annoy me as usual, which is why you sat on my couch even though I already told you not to. Well, news flash... It's not just an ordinary drink, it's fucking scarce. In fact, I haven't seen it in this country, so I am mad and it's your fault that she lost her job because I am not changing my mind.

I mean, I know it's a really good drink but I had no idea that it was that scarce, maybe I wouldn't have touched it if I knew. I just can't allow Alison lose her job because of me, I won't be able to forgive myself.

"Please don't do this, forgive her. I will get you another drink if you want, please. I will do anything to get your forgiveness, please spare her and punish me instead." I pleaded shamelessly.

"It's fine, she can stay." He gave in and my eyes went wide because I have a feeling that he will request for something in return and it will definitely be something that I don't like just to punish me for what I did.

"Really?" I asked and he nodded. "Okay, thanks? But what do I need to do in return?" I asked curiously.

"Hahahah." He laughed and I found it cute. "It's actually something very easy, something you will like." He pointed out but I have a feeling that's not the case. I doubt there is anything he can ask me to do that I will be okay with.

"What do you want?" I asked curiously.

"Privacy, I need space. Now that you have gotten what you came here for, kindly leave my room and please don't come back except I ask you to. I like my things to be kept a certain way." He said as he walked over to his bed and started fixing the bedspread and blanket like I messed it up.

"Okay, thanks." I stepped out and made my way back to the living room.

I am angry about some of the things he said in there but it doesn't really matter because I am grateful that he listened to me and Alison doesn't have to pay for my crime. I mean, this doesn't mean that I will stop trying to annoy him as much as he is annoying me, I will just have to be more careful because I don't want to involve another innocent person in my drama.

I entered the living room, looking dull just to prank Alison that the conversation I had with Louis didn't go well. "It's fine Miss, you have tried. I will get my things and leave, I don't want him to meet me here when he comes back down." She said as soon as she noticed my mood.

"No Alison, you are going no where because he agreed, he changed his mind." I said excitedly and we both started jumping in excitement.

"I can't believe that you actually changed his mind, thanks so much Miss. You are the absolute best, thanks." I have her a hug and I am glad that I was able to put a smile on her face again.

"You don't have to thank me, it was my fault. I almost cost you your job because of my stubbornness and I am just so glad that I was able to fix it." I said truthfully because I wouldn't have been able to forgive myself if she had actually lost her job because of me.

"It's fine, the most important thing is that I still have a job and it's thanks to you. I will go and make him something nice for dinner to say thank you to him, maybe even his favorite meal." She said excitedly.

"That's a good idea." I mean, he didn't ask for anything in return, so he actually deserves it. "Let's go, I will help." I said as I followed her to the kitchen.

  • BRIDE FOR A YEAR    CHAPTER 17 ~ THE CRACKS

LOUIS'S POV I hate when the house is quiet like this. There is something unsettling about silence after a fight, like the tension is still clinging to the walls, replaying every word with sharper edges. I could still hear her voice, thick with anger. Her eyes... God, those eyes had looked at me like I am a monster in a tailored suit.I shouldn’t have snapped at her like I did.I ran a hand down my face, bracing myself on the kitchen island, glaring at the orchids like it was their fault. It wasn’t about the damn flowers, not really. It was about everything else. About how she started leaving her scent in the rooms, her softness in the air, her damn laugh in places where silence used to live and I didn’t know how to deal with that.Flavia wasn’t supposed to… matter. I told myself that the contract was business, that she was just a solution. A temporary fixture to cover up the mess left behind by Emily and the looming eyes of people, media and my workers. And yet, here I am, angry over

  • BRIDE FOR A YEAR    CHAPTER 16 ~ THE RULES OF LOUIS

FLAVIA'S POV I never knew flowers could feel like landmines. The orchids on the marble kitchen island were a soft shade of lilac, delicate and perfectly arranged. I reached out instinctively to adjust one of the petals, only slightly because it looked like it was leaning the wrong way."Don’t touch that." Came a voice from behind me and without turning around, I knew it was Louis.I froze. "It’s just a flower, Louis."His footsteps were clipped against the marble floors as he entered the kitchen. "That’s not the point."I turned around slowly, watching him stand there in a blue jeans and a black polo shirt buttoned by the neck and he looks so cute as usual, I love seeing him in casual outfits as well as cooperates, he looks good either ways. It's Sunday and he is not going to work."What is the point, then?" I asked curiously. He narrowed his eyes at the vase. "I had it arranged a certain way."I blinked. "So? I just nudged a petal.""You moved it. The alignment is off." God. Is he

  • BRIDE FOR A YEAR    CHAPTER 15 ~ NOTHING MORE

LOUIS'S POV The corner office buzzed with the low hum of city life, even from the twentieth floor. I sat behind my desk, scrolling through figures on my screen, but not really seeing any of them as something lingered in my mind."She hugged me." It was brief, warm. Sudden and then she pulled back like she touched fire.I should have forgotten it by now but I can't get it off my mind. The soft knock on the door didn’t startle me, it was sudden and unexpected but only one person knocked like he owned the place."Come in." I said, without looking up.Tommy strolled in with a cup of coffee in each hand, he placed one on my desk before slumping into the chair opposite me. His suit jacket was unbuttoned, tie loosened like always. "I heard from Lidia that Flavia came in this morning," He said casually, before sipping his coffee. "You showed her the vacant floors?"I didn’t reply reply because I can already tell where this is going."You did, didn’t you?" He grinned. "You gave her a space,

  • BRIDE FOR A YEAR    CHAPTER 14 ~ ONCE BITTEN, TWICE SHY

FLAVIA'S POV It honestly still feels like a dream, I can't believe that I now have an office to myself. Even now, after leaving Louis's office with my documents in hand, on my way back to the building to meet Jaz, it still feels like a wild dream. As soon as the car stopped in front of the Prime corner suite, I stepped out. "Wow, fancy." Jazmine teased as she saw me stepping out of the car. "Who's car is that?""Louis, he asked his driver to drop me." It was a little weird going to his office today because I can still remember what happened the last time I was there.I was practically eating in his office, created a scene and then he offered me contract marriage and with recent development, I am not entirely sure if I am still mad at him or not."Oh, I see. This is getting really interesting, an office space, a black card to furnish the space and then a car to bring you here." I already know what she's driving at but I don't want to give it a thought because I am honestly confused."

  • BRIDE FOR A YEAR    CHAPTER 13 ~ THE OFFER

FLAVIA'S POV The silence in the car wasn’t the comfortable kind, it was thick, drawn-out, and padded with all the things neither of us wanted to say. His hands rested lightly on the steering wheel, his knuckles relaxed albeit the tension simmering just beneath the surface.I watched the city blur by through the tinted window, resisting the urge to fidget with my seatbelt. "Where are we going Louis?" I asked impatiently."This is the third time you are asking in the last five minutes and my reply hasn't changed, you have to wait and see." I really don't understand what the suspense is about, we are already on our way and he can as well just tell me."Fine, I don't know why it's so difficult to say, but it's fine." After last night’s debacle and this morning icy breakfast, I thought we were back to ignoring each other, but I guess not. Wherever it is we are going should better be worth ordering me around for.I stayed quiet and watched as he drove into an unfamiliar part of the city

  • BRIDE FOR A YEAR    CHAPTER 12 ~ CAVEMAN

FLAVIA'S POV I woke up feeling annoyed and very frustrated, after having little or no sleep last night thanks to Louis and all the awful things he said to me last night... First, I didn't want to go to the so called event with him but he practically forced me.Then he embarrassed me at the event because I was talking to someone. To be fair, I actually went too far while flirting with Carter but it was only because Louis had his eyes on me. I mean, I am only his wife on paper, so he shouldn't be bothered by my actions but I guess I was wrong.Although I think it will be best to stay away from him for a while, but unfortunately for me, as soon as I got to the dining area, there he was, already sitting, scrolling through his phone as he sips his black coffee.I sat at the far end of the long dining table, totally ignoring him as I served my breakfast. The fact that he refused to say anything to me or even apologize for how he treated and spoke to me last night is very annoying, which is
