Lyra’s POV

The walls did have ears.

It was very early in the morning when a maid came into my room to summon me.

“Ma'am Susan has asked to see you,” she informed me, drawing a low grunt from me as I slowly sat up, sad to see my sweet sleep cut off even though it would have still been cut off a few minutes later anyway.

When I readied myself and left the room to meet with her across the hallway, the last thing I expected was for her to have details of my meetings with Fiona.

But just as they always say, the walls did have many ears and I was pretty sure it borrowed some of the maids’ ears too.

“I don't know what you're talking about,” I swiftly denied her claims. Before she could say another word, I picked up the stand of fresh linens which I had picked up on my way to see her and tried to move past her, but she blocked me off, her hands now firmly on her waist as she glared down at me.

“You dare try to walk out on me?” She frowned, the cup of wine in her right hand nearly fallin

Randall's POV“Did you do it? Tell me the truth!” I demanded, towering over Lyra as the guards dragged her to me in the throne room. “Do not even think about lying to me. Do you hear me?” I growled. “Your father has been using you as a tool against me, hasn't he? Admit it!”She scoffed, glancing sideways with her shoulders slumped by her sides as the guards finally let her go. Then she returned her gaze at me, folding her arms but she did nothing else. “Say something!” I snarled, tilting her jaw but her eyes held no fear at all as she stared blankly. “You're wasting your time, Rand. She's never going to admit it because she's not sorry,” Susan said. “Do you think someone as hardened as her would feel sad for betraying you for the sake of her treacherous father?”The glint in Lyra’s eyes at the sound of those words was undeniable. Her hands curled up into fists, her breath heavier, but after a few murderous stares, she inhaled deeply, taking her eyes away from Susan. Still, I waite

Lyra's POV“On your knees!” The guards yelled as one of them shoved me in front of Randall who sat on his throne. Looking up at him, I wondered why his face was so scrunched up that a fly could have died just by perching on it. We were supposed to meet up later that evening, as soon as I was done with the extra work that Susan had me do. I was supposed to tell him that I was carrying his pup but looking at his face right now, that thought evaporated into thin air. My heart raced against my ribcage, the tension and hostility in the air nearly suffocating me. I frowned. What the hell was this all about anyway? Why wasn't he saying anything to me?Susan's lips curled in a disgusted smirk as she crossed her hands across her chest, leaning back into her chair. “What happened?” I finally managed to ask, seeing that no one was willing to speak to me. Somehow, they all felt like giving me awkward stares was the best decision they could make. Right where she sat, a smug smile spread on S

Randall's POVFrom the time I spoke with Lyra until the evening, my mind remained uneasy as I wondered why she wanted to see me. Since it was already evening, I sat in my study awaiting her arrival, but half an hour later, she had yet to show up. I was supposed to meet with one of the Elders who claimed that one of the top warriors had laid a claim on his farmland, arguing that it belonged to his late father. I knew that land. Back when my father was alive, Raymond's father and Elder Josh all claimed to own the land. But before my father could make a definitive judgement, Raymond's father, Elder Milos, decided to let Josh have it, opting to let peace reign for the sake of their friendship. It turns out his son didn't share the same sentiments, so I needed to hear exactly what happened from Josh, seeing that he was the older person and the issue was between him and Raymond’s father. But it had to wait. Lyra was the only person whom I wanted to see. My heart raced a thousand miles

Lyra's POVFor days, I had tried my hardest to get back to my previous room so I could take back the map to the entire pack in my quest to escape all to no avail. The guards in the hallway wouldn't let me get inside, no matter how hard I tried. According to them, I wasn't allowed to clean the room or even approach it, so I couldn't even use the excuse of being a cleaner to get inside. Thankfully, no one else got inside either. It was abandoned by all, just like it was before it was given to me, but I still hoped that soon, I'd be able to get inside. But for now, I needed to find an alternative plan. Having resumed my duties as a maid, I seized the opportunity to study the mansion as well as I could. With each break that most of the guards took, I took my time to study all the exits just so I could escape without being noticed. Usually, I was afforded some time to head out to the garden or any other place in the pack that I needed to be in but on those days, there were always guar

Randall's POV“This kind of bond is a very dangerous one, Alpha,” Juan said, standing beside my table. “Don't you think it's high time you did something about it?”I ignored him, burying my face in the documents before me. It was an offer from the White Heart pack to join forces with us against Alpha Max and his people should a full war break out. Alpha Graham was an asshole. Back when we were younger, his father used to bring him to our pack whenever he wanted to see my father, his old friend. The man was one of the calmest alphas that I'd ever seen. A true friend to my father. But his son? He was a menace, always causing trouble wherever he went. Because he was bigger, he'd always try to bully me but I was far stronger than any wolf my age so I always put him in his place and he didn't like that. I didn't like him either. But now, things had changed. I was quite certain he was still the same bastard but alliances were more about interests and very little about fondness. Having a

Lyra’s POVSeated on a small pavement in the garden, I inhaled the sweet scent of roses and hibiscus to admire but for some reason, they felt a bit off. I ignored it and glanced around the garden, admiring the beautiful scenery which was almost like the one in my pack. Almost… because nothing could ever match the splendour of my garden, not even one as large and beautiful as this. The fresh air helped me heal, easing the need to clear my head of all the stress. Thankfully, I wasn't required to do any work, so I thought I should make the most of the opportunity. I got to my feet and began to stroll leisurely around the garden, stopping at different points to have a feel of the flowers. I plucked some of them and brought them to my nose, sniffing their beautiful scents with a smile on my face. Just like I hoped, the fresh air helped clear my head after my ordeal with the poison but I still felt a lingering fatigue. “Ugh,” I groaned, tracing my way back to the pavement where I previ
