Chap 1: Save him from death.

Fidelia left work at ten o'clock at night. She said goodbye to Lucy and quickly went. The weather these days is really bad, it rains heavily and is cold, so the supermarket is empty.

She sighed, pulled up the collar of her coat to keep her body warm, then quickly walked towards the bus stop. Although the road from the bus station to her place of work is not too far, it is very deserted; on both sides of the road are tall trees. Every time she waits for the bus, she feels scared, especially in bad weather like this.

Today it seems to be raining harder than usual; the wind howls every now and then, and the two rows of trees on the side of the road tilt as if they are about to fall on Fidelia. She walked faster, just hoping to get to the bus stop quickly and catch the last bus to go home.

Suddenly, headlights from afar shone into Fidelia's eyes, and the car's turn signals blinked continuously on the side of the road. She narrowed her eyes to see better in the rain and had a bad premonition.

Fidelia took a deep breath and plucked up the courage to step closer to the car. Her voice was a little shaky: "Hello, anyone need help?"

Besides the sound of the wind hissing and insects chirping in the night, no one responded to Fidelia's words. She moved closer to the car, wiped the raindrops on the window with her sleeve, squinted her eyes inside the car, and panicked when she discovered a man; his face was covered in blood.

"Hey, can you hear me?"

Fidelia said as she tried to open the car door, but it was locked from the inside. She tried to bang on the window to call him but to no avail. His eyes remained closed, his face turned pale, and he seemed to have passed out. Even though she called him hoarsely for hours, he didn't move.

In an instant, she made a bold decision. That is breaking the window, although this car looks quite expensive. Thinking to do, Fidelia began searching for a stone to break the car glass. As soon as she threw the umbrella aside, the wind blew it and it disappeared into the night. She didn't hesitate any longer, but grabbed a stone on the side of the road and began to break the window of the lower row of the car so that the man wouldn't get hurt.

It's not easy; the car window appears to be very solid. Her hands had begun to freeze while standing in the rain and wind, and some places were bleeding due to the sharp corners of the stone. But seeing the man in the car in danger, she didn't allow herself to give up.

"Come on! Come on, Fidelia! You can do it." Fidelia gritted her teeth, muttering in her mouth to encourage herself. She raised the stone high up and used all her strength to smash down the glass door.

"Crack."

A cry rang out from the glass door, a crack beginning at the stone's tip and spreading out around the glass. Fidelia smiled and sighed as she was about to succeed. She raised the stone overhead and slammed it on the mirror again. The glass was broken to pieces, splattering everywhere, a few slicing her hand. But Fidelia ignored that; what she needed to do now was how to save his life.

Fidelia's trembling hand groped the door open. As soon as she got inside the car, she sat in the front row and checked on his current situation. She put her hand up to his nose and noticed that the man was still breathing, but his breathing was relatively weak. It could be due to excessive blood loss.

"Please, don't die! I'll call the rescue team! Try to endure it!"

She looked in her pocket for her phone, but it couldn't be turned on because it was soaked in rainwater.

"Oh no, my God! Why is the phone broken now?" Fidelia was confused, she shouted in helplessness. She touched his face; it was cold as ice; she felt her heart about to burst out of her chest.

She quickly slipped her phone back into her pocket, then Fidelia unbuckled the man's seat belt, struggling to help him down into the backseat. She searched for his phone in the car and on his body at this point, but there were none, not even his identification documents.

"After all, what had he encountered that was so badly injured?" Fidelia muttered in her mouth. However, now was not the time for her to think about that. The important thing now is that she must take him to the hospital to save him, or he will die.

In the end, Fidelia decided to drive his own car to take him to the nearest hospital for timely treatment. Her chest rose and fell; she trembled, clutching the steering wheel, recklessly pressing the accelerator to drive away in stormy weather. Along the way, Fidelia prayed for herself and him to be safe.

When the car stopped in front of the hospital, she breathed a sigh of relief. She hurriedly opened the door and quickly ran in to call the doctors and nurses to help bring him to the emergency room.

Just as he was being carried out of the car by the nurses, he suddenly took Fidelia's cold, still trembling hand and whispered with closed eyes: "Don't go! Don't…leave me!"

His voice was soft but weak, warm as if hypnotizing Fidelia. She thought that maybe while in a coma, he mistook her for someone else. But at his pleas, in the end, Fidelia decided to stay with a man she didn't even know. She even made the procedure for him to have surgery. If something happens in the process, all responsibility belongs to her.

At this point, Fidelia realized something. She envisioned the worst that would happen to her if he died on the operating table. Her hands trembled; she still did not dare to put a pen to sign her name. Fidelia feared that the past would repeat itself again. Her life will fall into darkness again.

"Hello, buddy! You must sign for us to perform the surgery as soon as possible. The patient's life is in grave danger." The nurse's voice was urging Fidelia.

She bit her lower lip, trying to keep her mind clear. He might die if she didn't sign it, but if she signed it, he'd still be alive. Fidelia clenched the pen in her hand and decided to sign her name on the pledge in the surgery file.

Immediately after, the man she saved by the roadside was taken to the emergency room. Until now, her body was still shivering from the cold, and an uneasiness enveloped Fidelia. At this point, she could do nothing but pray for him to pass the door of death.

After two hours, the light in front of the emergency room's door finally went out. Nurses in a stable condition ejected him. The doctor looked at me and nodded, and walked away. I fell to the ground and realized that he was saved.

He was taken to the intensive care unit. I stood outside looking through the glass window, only now I could see his face closely. Even though he was wrapped in bandages around his head, he still couldn't hide the man's beauty. His face is perfect; he's as beautiful as an angel.

Fidelia was startled when she realized that his magical beauty was seducing her. She shook her head, trying to dispel the bizarre thought that had just occurred to her. The past has made her lose faith in love. She couldn't let herself fall into the mud again because of love.

"Hello, are you the patient's family member?"

"Yes… it's me. Yes…what's the matter?" Fidelia stammered in reply, a worried look on her face. "What…what…What's the matter with him?"

The nurse shook her head, her eyes shining with a smile; she reassured Fidelia in a friendly way:

"Oh no. Do not worry. He is temporarily out of danger. Now follow me to complete his admission procedure and pay an advance fee to the hospital."

Fidelia sighed as if a burden had been lifted and politely replied, "Yes, thanks for letting me know. So let's go!"

"Please follow me!"

Since Fidelia couldn't leave this man, he needed care, and someone was on duty at night, so during the day, she went to work at the supermarket, and at night she went to the hospital. She only returned home to get some belongings and some clothes, then immediately returned to the hospital. She didn't dare to neglect him because she would be implicated in whatever happened to this man.

During the day, she had to work at the supermarket, and at night she had to stay here, so Fidelia hardly had time to rest. Her body was tired; the sleep gradually overcame her, making her irresistible. Fidelia collapsed beside his bed and slowly fell asleep without knowing it.

Fidelia felt like someone was gently stroking her hair in the middle of the night. Right now, she was like a small cat, being petted by someone. She felt very comfortable and at ease. Fidelia jerked awake, half awake, half asleep, looked up, and met a pair of black eyes under the man's protruding brows that startled her.

Fidelia staggered to her feet, almost falling backward, but fortunately, the man in front of her pulled her hand back with a strong, warm hand. She felt as if every muscle in her body tensed. Her mind is empty now.

"You…you woke up…yeah! I…I went to find…the doctor…come!"

She said falteringly and awkwardly. Usually, Fidelia wasn't to the point of uttering such clumsy words, but this man embarrassed her. She appeared to be captivated by the man's enigmatic beauty.

Seeing her reaction made him laugh, his eyes twinkling, looking at her affectionately.

"Hi! I'm Declan Galbraith. And you?" He spoke to Fidelia in a warm, seductive voice. Fidelia was mesmerized by his voice. It took a moment for her to regain consciousness and regain her composure. Fidelia swallowed hard, saying somewhat stiffly: "I am Fidelia. Actually…I…I…."

"Beautiful name!" Declan unexpectedly complimented Fidelia. He gave her a friendly smile that made her heart pound in her chest. It had been long since she had heard such sweet words from a man.

Fidelia blushed; she shyly bowed her head, "Thank you! I'll go find a doctor to check on you!"

"Sorry to bother you," Declan said politely.

"Oh, it's nothing," Fidelia replied to his words, then turned and walked away. As she approached the door, she came to a halt, turning to face him as if to say something, but it was difficult to put into words. Declan frowned; as if reading her mind, he took the initiative to speak:

"Do you have something to say to me?"

"Yes. Actually… when I brought you here, I didn't know your name." Fidelia took a deep breath; she said clearly: "Because I can't find any papers on you. But because I had to do the procedure for you to be hospitalized, I took a name. So, don't be too surprised if the doctor calls him Anatole! I have no other way!"

Declan's handsome face flickered with surprise. The name she came up with for him was also excellent and meaningful. He guessed she liked dawn, so she took that name.

"Yes, of course! You did the right thing."

Fidelia gave him a beautiful smile because he understood her situation at the time. Just as she was about to walk away, his deep voice resounded, calling her name gently and respectfully:

"Fidelia!"

"Yes, I 'm hearing." Her voice trembled slightly, anxiously awaiting Declan's question.

"Why did you decide to save me when you don't know anything about me? What if I'm the bad guy?" Declan asked her seriously, his tone seemingly changing.

Fidelia panicked a little; she had never thought of this. She pondered for a long time, then Fidelia answered him honestly: "At that time, the only thing I thought about was how I could save you. Moreover, you were seriously injured, and having bad intentions toward me was challenging. Even if you're a bad person, you don't deserve to die...at that time."

Fidelia turned, looked directly into Declan's black eyes, shrugged her shoulders, and said carelessly, her eyes melancholy: "My life once fell into a dark abyss. Even if you encounter bad guys, it's bad luck."

Declan leaned against the edge of the bed, his eyebrows raised as he followed Fidelia's small but resilient figure. As soon as he woke up and saw her sleeping beside him, he knew that Fidelia was the one who had saved his life that night.

An indescribable feeling appeared in his heart. It seemed to warm his cold and lonely heart during the past five years. Unknowingly Declan put his hand on his left chest; he felt like his heart was fluttering before this beautiful girl.
