The night doesn’t seem as peaceful anymore. Each sound jerks through Mina in a violent pull that snatches her attention and holds it for a long heart-stopping minute. Each time. Her nerves are fried even as she tries to soothe herself, knowing the nightlife returning is another sign that the enemy has gone, but she is on high alert. The body outside doesn’t help. It’s bloody scent marring the camp she has started to love.
