Elsa’s POV

The snow stung my face like needles as I stumbled blindly through the storm, my breath tearing raggedly from my lungs. I could barely see more than a few feet ahead, but I didn’t stop. I couldn’t stop. Every step I took away from Caleb, from his lies, from the way his eyes had turned cold when he chose someone else, every step was survival.

The icy wind howled through the trees, lifting my hair and lashing it across my cheeks. The snowdrifts pulled at my boots, slowing me, dragging me down like the memories that kept replaying in my head. Caleb’s words so soft once, so sweet rang hollow now, replaced with the cruel finality of rejection.

I never should have trusted him.

The tears had started without my permission, hot against the freezing air. I swiped them away with the back of my hand, furious with myself. He wasn’t worth this. He wasn’t worth a single tear, yet my heart felt as if it had been ripped from my chest.

I pressed a hand against my ribs as though I could hold myself together. The mate bond was supposed to be sacred, unbreakable, the thread that bound two souls together forever. And yet Caleb had cast me aside as if I were nothing.

My legs trembled from exhaustion, the cold burrowing deeper into my bones. I didn’t even know where I was heading only away. Away from Moonstone Pack. Away from the hollow gazes of those who pitied me. Away from the whispers that I was the girl who wasn’t enough.

A light appeared through the curtain of snow two piercing beams cutting across the storm. At first, I thought my mind was playing tricks on me. Then the hum of an engine grew louder, closer. Headlights. A car.

I staggered toward the road just as a sleek black vehicle emerged from the white blur, its tires crunching over the frozen ground. Desperation gave me strength I didn’t know I had left. I threw myself into the lane, waving frantically.

The car screeched to a halt. For a heartbeat, I stood frozen in the glow of its lights, heart hammering like a wild drum. The driver lowered his window, his expression startled.

Before he could speak, I yanked the rear door open and all but fell inside, collapsing against the leather seat. The warmth hit me instantly, shocking after the brutal cold. My lungs burned as I gasped for air.

“Drive,” a voice commanded.

Deep. Cold. Uncompromising.

The sound made me lift my head.

He was there in the back seat, not two feet away. A man unlike any I had ever seen tall, broad-shouldered, his presence filling the space as if the car itself bowed to him. His dark coat was dusted with snow, his hair tousled yet deliberate, his sharp eyes trained on me with an intensity that made my wolf, Rema, stir uneasily.

Not Caleb’s easy charm. Not his practiced smiles. This man radiated something else danger, authority, the kind of command that needed no words.

The driver glanced in the mirror, uncertain. The man didn’t break eye contact with me.

“I said drive. Take her out of this territory.”

The car lurched forward, tires spinning briefly before catching the icy road. I sat frozen, shivering though the air inside was warm.

For a while, I couldn’t stop the sobs that slipped out. The storm outside blurred with the storm inside me, grief pouring through every crack in my chest. I pressed a fist against my lips, trying to quiet myself, but the sound still came broken, fragile, humiliating.

The man said nothing. He didn’t offer comfort, didn’t look away either. He simply sat there, as if weighing me in silence.

At some point, the tears slowed. I forced myself to breathe, to find some piece of strength left in me. My chest still hurt, but I straightened, lifting my chin despite the tremor in it.

Caleb doesn’t deserve my tears.

I had lost enough already. I refused to lose my pride too.

Wiping my cheeks with the back of my hand, I dared to meet the stranger’s gaze. His eyes were sharp, glinting like steel under moonlight. There was no pity in them only a cool assessment, as though I were a puzzle he intended to solve.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered, my voice rough. “I shouldn’t have forced myself into your car. I just… I had nowhere else to go.”

The silence stretched before I added quickly, “Please, just drop me at the next junction. I’ll be fine from there.”

One dark brow lifted, as though he found my words amusing or perhaps pathetic. He leaned forward slightly, his presence pressing against me though he hadn’t moved closer.

“Will you?” His voice was low, carrying weight that seemed to settle in my bones.

I swallowed hard. “Yes.”

His gaze sharpened, pinning me where I sat. “No, you won’t. Not unless you decide what you’re running toward, not just what you’re running from.”

The car slowed, tires crunching over snow as we approached a crossroads. My pulse quickened. This was it my chance to get out, to disappear again.

The man studied me for a long moment, then leaned back, his words precise, deliberate.

“If you want revenge, survive. If you want freedom, fight.”

The car rolled to a stop. The driver glanced back nervously, but the man gave a small nod. My door unlocked with a quiet click.

My heart pounded. Part of me wanted to beg him to take me farther, anywhere but here. Another part, the stronger part, whispered that this was the test. That the stranger had just handed me a weapon not in steel, but in words.

I pushed the door open, the cold biting at me instantly. For a moment, I hesitated, glancing back at him. He was still watching, expression unreadable, a shadow carved from stone.

Then I stepped out.

The storm swallowed me once more as the car pulled away, taillights fading into the snow until there was nothing left but darkness and the echo of his voice in my ears.

Survive. Fight.

I wrapped my arms around myself, standing at the edge of the road, and for the first time since Caleb’s betrayal, I felt something spark inside me. Not despair. Not grief. Something fiercer.

Maybe I was broken. But I wasn’t done. Not yet.

It couldn’t be Dylan—if it were, I would have already felt his presence, the heavy command of his aura pressing against my wolf.I sat up quickly, clutching the edges of my robe and tying it around my waist. The knock came again quieter, hesitant.I pulled open the door. And my world stopped.Standing there, wide-eyed, trembling, was Lila.I froze, my throat closing, convinced I was dreaming. My hand shot up to my face, wiping at my eyes, desperate to clear the illusion. But she didn’t vanish. She was real. My arms wrapped around her

  • Broken Luna Rise Back   The Alpha’s Watch

Dylan’s POVThe night was too quiet.I’ve learned over the years that quiet doesn’t mean peace….it means danger. It’s the breath before the strike, the pause before the knife comes down. A pack’s silence was never empty. It was heavy, charged, waiting.I stood on the balcony outside my chambers, hands resting on the stone rail as I looked down at the courtyard. Torches burned low, their flames bending with the night breeze. Guards patrolled in pairs, their boots clicking against the stones, their movements sharp and disciplined. My pack always moved with precision. That was how I kept them strong. That was why no other Alpha dared test me.And yet, I could feel it like a draft seeping through cracks in the walls. The air wasn’t clean. Whispers were spreading, like insects burrowing beneath the skin.I didn’t need to hear the words to know where they came from.Veronica.My jaw tightened. She hadn’t approached me directly since Elsa arrived, and that alone told me everything I needed t

  • Broken Luna Rise Back   The Mistress’s Fury

Author’s POVThe maid’s words echoed in Veronica’s mind like a cruel bell: “She sat beside Lady Selene. The Lady held her hand. Even Neris likes her.”Veronica’s fingers dug into the silk of her gown as she paced her room. The rich fabric that once made her feel like a queen now felt suffocating. How could this be happening? She had spent years weaving herself into Dylan’s life years of smiles, whispered promises, and stolen nights. She had endured his coldness when he grew distant, clung to the warmth when he allowed her close again, and convinced herself that in time, he would see that no one else could stand at his side the way she could. But now…now some little slip of a girl had walked in from nowhere, and suddenly the Luna’s chamber belonged to her.Veronica slammed her fist against the vanity, making the glass perfume bottles tremble. Her reflection glared back at her: flawless beauty, dark eyes sharp as knives, lips painted the color of blood. She had been told all her life sh

  • Broken Luna Rise Back   Weighing Shadows

Elsa’s POVLady Selene still held my hand as though she didn’t want to let me go. Her grip was steady, warm, and stronger than I expected. It was strange how she made me feel safe in the middle of a room that reeked of tension.“Sit with me, child,” she said, patting the seat beside her.The maids quickly adjusted the cushions, clearing the space. I lowered myself onto the chair, my back straight, hands folded in my lap. My heart beat fast, though I forced my face to remain calm.Neris plopped down at my other side, cheerful as ever, her curls bouncing. She leaned so close I could feel her excitement radiating. Lyra, however, chose to stand near the window, her posture elegant, her expression unreadable. She crossed her arms, eyes fixed on me like a hawk watching prey.Lady Selene spoke first, her voice low but carrying weight. “You must forgive my daughters. One is too quick to trust, the other too slow. Both are young still, learning the ways of this world. But you…” Her sharp gaze

  • Broken Luna Rise Back   A Different Kind of Strength

Elsa’s POVThe morning light was soft when the knock came at my door. I had barely finished fastening the silver clasp on my gown when the guards appeared to escort me. My heart thudded as we crossed the long corridors of the packhouse and descended the stone steps. Outside, the air was crisp, scented with pine and faint traces of smoke from the chimneys.“She is waiting,” one of the guards said gruffly, and I followed, my palms damp inside my sleeves.Lady Selene’s residence stood separate from the main packhouse, though close enough that her presence could still loom over everything. The building was elegant but quiet, its white stone walls climbing with ivy. It felt older than the other structures, filled with a kind of weight that whispered of history and power.I stepped inside. The scent of herbs and polished wood filled the air. The chamber was wide, warmed by a great hearth. There, near the center, Lady Selene sat on a high-backed chair draped with wolf pelts. Two maids knelt

  • Broken Luna Rise Back   Shadows of Expectation

Elsa’s POVThe gown lay across the bed like a trap. Rich velvet dyed the color of midnight, its sleeves embroidered with threads of silver that shimmered like frost. It was beautiful, far more beautiful than anything I had ever touched, let alone worn. But as I sat on the edge of the bed staring at it, I felt no pride. Only heaviness. The Luna’s chamber was quiet except for the crackling of the fireplace. Everything around me gleamed polished wood, silk curtains, a carved wardrobe filled with gowns I had never dared imagine. And yet all of it felt alien. A cage wrapped in velvet. My mind wasn’t here. Not in this room, not in this house, not in this life that had turned upside down in the space of a single day. My thoughts drifted back, again and again, to Lila.I pictured her small frame hurrying about the servant’s quarters, her bright eyes flashing when she scolded me for forgetting to eat. Was she safe? Was she still at the mercy of Crystal’s venom? I had left her behind without a
