MIA'S POV

The sun sits low over the Demon’s Pack training field, spilling gold across the sand and steel.

With recent events, I've thought it wise to learn how to fight. In the Lycan kingdom, self defense is the best defense. Anything can happen at any time and it's best to be prepared.

I spot Thorne, he's already here.‎ Of course he is. He just stands there, tall, broad shoulders gleaming beneath the faint light, dark hair damp with the morning mist as he instructs a person that's training. As though sensing me, he tilts his head to me, his eyes finding mine, sharp and unreadable. And I swear my heart skips.

“Why do you keep standing there? Come in.” Thorne says through the mate link.

I look around and realize that I'm still at the entrance. I quickly walk towards Thorne, while still trying to take in the new environment.

‎“You’re late,” he says, voice rough but annoyingly calm.

‎“I’m five minutes early,” I mutter, glancing at the sky.

‎“Then you’re ten minutes late,” he r

~Elara~I don't turn to him, rather I keep watching the guards. “You came back late.”“I tried to wrap things early, but some things are out of my control.”“Things are always within your control Dravon.” I reply.I can hear the sound of the cloak dropping on the couch. “I apologize for coming back late, My Queen.”Mia's words return back to my head. Indeed I've been living in delusion. I'm actively trying to put aside the impending storm coming, going about my daily activities while beneath me I know a war is coming. Not like the one in Winterwood, but a more serious one. Whoever is backing Anita is powerful and dangerous, the battle will be bloody. I'm trying to live in the moment, but my heart is not still.“You’re quiet.” Dravon says, breaking through my thoughts.“Am I?”“Yes, you are. Did something happen?” He asks, stepping closer. I can feel his presence before his hand even reaches me. It's a ripple in the air, that primal energy that always reminds me who he truly is. Not ju

ELARA'S POVI sit on Mia's bed as I watch her show me a night gown. The silk nightgown is beautiful on her, subtly accentuating her curves. I raise my thumb in approval.“Finally!” She exhales. “It was beginning to feel like I have nothing good in my closet.”“This one is nice.” I say honestly. “I’m guessing you're spending the night in Thorne's room?”She nods, then slightly frowns. “Is this weird? Talking about your Beta in this regard?” “You mean knowing my Beta's personal life through you?” I confirm. She nods again. I think about it for a while before responding. “I don't think it's weird. Thorne and I have a cool relationship and you're my friend. We did talk about Dravon the same way, did it feel weird?”“No, it just felt like two friends gisting.”“Same here.”She proceeds to hang the remaining nightgown in the closet.“Mia,” I call out. “I have a very intrusive question.”“As long as you're not asking for a very detailed breakdown of Thorne's and I act behind closed doors,

~Mia~But here I am, almost sweating under the early morning sun, staring at Thorne like he’s lost his mind. The reality that I'm about to face a very experienced fighter is dawning on me. His muscles flex under the sun, almost making me drool but also bringing reality that Thorne is no ordinary werewolf. He's the Beta for a reason.‎‎“Don’t look at me like that,” he says, arms crossed, smirking. “You agreed to this.”‎‎“I agreed to learn, not die,” I shoot back. My voice echoes across the training ground, and a few warriors passing by chuckle under their breath.‎‎Thorne grins wider. “Learning and dying are sometimes cousins, sweetheart.”‎‎I roll my eyes. “If I die, I’m haunting you.”‎‎“I’d like to see you try.” He tosses me his wooden sword. I nearly drop it, it’s heavier than it looks. “Use that, I'll use your former sword.”My fingers wrap awkwardly around the smooth wood as he circles me like a predator assessing prey.‎‎His dark hair glints in the light, his shoulders b

~Elara~‎‎‎‎I rise slowly, scanning the shadows. A flicker catches my eye, movement along the rafters.‎‎I don’t think. I move.‎‎A knife whistles through the air where my head was seconds ago, embedding itself into the stone.‎‎“Coward!” I snarl.‎‎A shadow leaps from the beams above. I spin, claws half-shifted, catching the glint of metal as another dagger slashes for my throat. I duck, twist, and slam my elbow into the attacker’s ribs. The impact sends him stumbling, but he recovers fast, rolling and coming up with both blades drawn.‎‎He’s tall, cloaked and masked. His scent, human mixed with wolfsbane. My eyes narrow.‎‎“Who sent you?” I growl.‎‎He doesn’t answer. He lunges.‎‎The first blade grazes my arm. Pain burns sharp and hot, but I barely feel it. Ney surges forward, power rolling through my veins. I grab his wrist mid-swing, twist hard, and hear the satisfying crack of bone. He shouts in pain.‎‎With one motion, I kick his legs out from under him and pin him to

~Elara~I turn to Dravon to protest but he stops me. “You've been awake before dawn planning this feast. You need sleep, the rest of us will handle it.”His voice is stern, carrying a commanding tone. At this point I know it's useless arguing with him so I agree. “Fine, I'll be a dutiful wife and obey my husband.”“I'll join you later.” He says before leaving with everyone.Mia comes to stand by my side, as we both watch them split up to search the palace. “You're not really going to be a dutiful wife, are you?”I smirk. “I should put more effort in my acting, you're reading me too well.”“I'll be waiting for you in your former room. If it passes an hour, I'm alerting the King.”“Deal!”“And for the love of the Goddess, don't put yourself in harm way else the King will have my head. He entrusted you into my hands.”“Stop worrying Mia.” I wave her off. “I'm trained and even if anything happens, Thorne won't allow Dravon to touch you.”She sighs. “Good luck.”“I won't be needing it, rat
