It had been a long time since Lauren heard the birds sing early in the morning or the early sun come down to kiss her skin a good morning. The next morning was quiet and awkward. Mostly awkward with Damien not knowing how to explain everything to Lauren. His eyes were red with eye bags, evidence that he hadn’t slept the previous night. Finally, he knocked lightly before pushing the door open when he got no response. With unsteady steps Lauren bound up the stairs of her home, her face downcast and troubled, she had a feeling something was wrong but she didn’t know what it was. Nathan wasn’t home when she came in. she looked around the house with pure disgust, she didn’t know how she was going to keep living here with Nathan and pretend that she was still the happy wife that he had married. She wanted to tear down the entire house and set it ablaze but she couldn’t do something that rash, Nathan was too dangerous. She didn’t know what she would do if he tried to harm Damien in any way. The sun was too bright, hammering down on her already aching head. Lauren rubbed her eyes but remained in bed. She didn’t want to face her reality too soon plus she was having a mad hangover. The door to their room creaked but she left her eyes closed. “I know you’re awake, come eat your hangover soup” Came Nathan’s sweet voice as he entered with the tray he was holding before setting it down on the bed. Damien was still lost in his own world, welcoming the pain that the drink the day before has brought him. he rolled over in his bed, laying an arm across to his eyes to shield it from the sun. It was beginning to be a normal thing for Lauren to wake up in the morning, disoriented and with a headache. She fumbled around in the bed, patting the other side of the bed but it was empty. She still felt foggy afterward, feeling like she was supposed to remember something but her memory came up blank.
