I felt pressed and needed to use the restroom badly. I reached for my phone on the desk beside my bed. Once I touched it, I turned it on and checked the time. It was 3 am. I heard a gentle snore beside me, making me turn around. There lay my little princess fast asleep. I hit my head to reprimand myself for forgetting that I slept together with my family.

"Family," I muttered and a smile adorned my face.

I gently covered Melinda with the duvet and placed her properly, as she was nearly falling off the bed. Noiselessly, I got off the bed and headed for the bathroom. I caught sight of Lani curled up and shivering on the sofa. My eyes widened, I tiptoed to the air conditioner and turned it off, switched on the heater, and then went back to my queen on the sofa. I lowered myself to the ground and watched her sleep. Her face was so calm, peaceful and innocent. I couldn't stop myself from smiling.
