Applying First Aid

The morning sun has risen, and I can feel it's warmth on my skin. As I wake from my slumber, my wolf is going crazy. 'Mate! Mate! Mate!' There is no way our mate could be nearby. We were in the middle of nowhere, in an abandoned house. Yet here I was, fighting my wolf for control. Moon Goddess only knows what would happen if I lost.

I bartered with my wolf, so I could at least get something in my belly before going on this wild goose chase again. It seemed to work, so to the hallway I went. As I got to the top of the stairs, I could smell cherry blossoms and vanilla. The scent only got stronger and when I got down the first set of stairs, I ran down the hall to the second set. I damn near flew down them and there was our mate. Sitting down, leaning against the front door. Sleeping so peaceful. My wolf was jumping with excitement in my head. We finally found our mate.

Studying and imprinting every detail of our mate's face to memory, I realize our mate was a goddess. Her lashes were long and curled. Her lips perfectly plumped. She has beautiful dark curly hair that was falling perfectly on her delicate tan face. She mumbles and tilts her head to the side, revealing her unmarked neck. My mouth starts watering, and my wolf is starting to push through again. Wanting to mark her, to officially make her ours. Able to hold him back once again, I start scanning lower and that is when I lost the battle to my wolf, Kai.

'MATE! MUST HAVE MATE!' Kai became completely primal seeing our naked mate. Feeling every bone in my body break as he forces the shift. I swear it hurts more than shifting willingly.

'Kai, control yourself. You are going to scare her.' I scold him.

'Something isn't right. She should have sensed me. She should have woken up already.' Kai whimpers with concern. As I look through the eyes of wolf, I notice her bone popping out in the ankle area. There is also a puddle of blood underneath it. Not enough to kill her but enough to slow the healing process.

'We need to act fast. Can you control yourself so we can help her?' I ask.

'What's the plan?' is all Kai can say.

'I need you to give me control back, then we will shift back. I will have to push the bone back into place, possibly snapping it more. Once that is done, we will need to return to our wolf form and seal the open wound with our saliva.' I try to speak fast but clear, so he could understand. He was just as worried as I was and at this point, I needed to be the voice of reason.

'Jesse, I can push it in easily. No need for you to have control.' He is being stubborn again. Looks like I have to remind him how much damage he can cause.

'I understand you want to have complete say so, but you would crush her entire leg. We are trying to help heal her, not leave her disabled.' I can hear him sigh and his hold on me weakens. Stepping forward, we shift back into human form.

My hands tremble as they move closer to her. What happens if I can't get it back in place? She could possibly bleed out and then we would lose our one true love. The Moon Goddess will disown us, turn us into one of them.

'Jesse, you need to calm down. Your overthinking is getting on my damn nerves. If I knew you were going to do this, I would have taken the chances of helping her myself in wolf form. Now, either get your shit together or back up so a real male species can get it done.'

Kai knew what he was doing. Pissing me off to the point where I was a thousand percent focused on proving him wrong. He was right though. I had to get out of my thoughts.

Turning all my annoyance into pure focus, my hands stop shaking. I was finally able to firmly hold her foot with my right hand and placed my left of the protruding bone. Taking a deep breath in, I pushed the bone back in. Her body flinched but she still didn't wake. I check to see if the bone was in the right place by feeling around the area. The bottom piece of the bone still needed a little extra push. So, with my index and middle finger, I apply enough pressure to pop it into position.
