Chapter 1

Madison, that is your name, right?"

He asked with what she could easily refer to as arrogance. 

Did he not know her name at least before asking that they bundle her to him immediately?

She did not reply. She lowered her head and let her eyes rest on his boots that had been polished so well that she could almost see her face in it.

"I said, is your name Madison Roberts?"

He asked again, this time, his voice came out like a snarl and she looked up, into his mean, unsmiling face. She had made up her mind the moment she stepped into the pack, against her will, that she was not going to like him.

"Yes, I am Madison Roberts. I am disappointed, my lord, that you do not even know my name."

She said without maintaining any form of eye contact with him. She heard the maid behind her gasp. 

He took one step closer to where she was sitting on a low stool, under the watch of the guards and remained there until she lifted her eyes to his face.

" Now listen, girl, I am Alpha Caden and do not entertain any form of Insolence from any one. You will do well to keep shut when I am speaking and only answer a question when asked." 

He paused and took another intimidating step forward.

"Is that clear?"

"No." Madison replied. The maid gasped again. 

Madison turned to look around the hall. Everyone except her seemed to be tensed.

" Well," she continued to speak, " if indeed you asked that I be brought here to your pack, against my will, don't you think it would have made a little more sense that you knew how I looked? You simply know the name but not the owner of...."

" Enough! " He yelled, cutting her off impatiently. " Your tongue shall get you into it trouble soon if you do not learn to use it well."

Madison wrinkled her face in disgust. No way she was ever going to like him. She would never let herself get to like a man like him who had only met her for the first time, but was already yelling at her.

She lowered her gaze and continued to look at his boots. 

He took a step forward and she wondered why he did. She felt too close as to him already as it was.

" Listen, there are things that are important to me, things like making wars, gaining new territories and building alliances with other packs. Getting to know the name of a certain Woman from hades is not of the important things to me!"

With that, he stormed off and left her sitting with her mouth open, and her eyes fixed on his back. He did not look back. He reached the door and it was opened by one of the many domestic staff.. he walked out.

"You will have to wait for the Alpha to return and give orders about your accomodation and every other thing."

The maid who had been allocated to her from the moment she stepped into the pack said.

"What is that supposed to mean?"

" The Alpha is in a terrible mood and would likely want to talk with you again when he is calmer..then..... he can give orders for your accomodation."

She explained

"Are you saying that there are no provisions for my accomodation? I got whisked off my feet to this pack to have my life run on the basis of an Alpha's mood?" 

The maid shook her head. 

" You must be patient for a while, my lady.. I will wait up with you for as long as you might have to . "

The maid offered. Madison was brimming with anger. 

One moment, she was an independent young woman at her pack, with only a step mother to dislike and in the next moment, she was in another pack, with an arrogant alpha who did not care for her but had ordered that she be brought to him nonetheless.

" Do you know where the Alpha might be? "

She asked.

The maid shook her head again.

Madison rose to her feet and left the hall.

She had no idea where she was going. There was no way she could reach the Alpha without asking questions.. she knew nowhere at the pack.

Madison was standing alone in the shadows outside the pack house when she heard the familiar mean voice again.

"What do you want out here?"

It was the alpha.. she turned around, relieved and afraid at the same time.

"I was wondering why I would not be given a room to spend the night because you are in a bad mood."

"My mood has nothing to do with that."

He said as he took a few steps close to her. She stepped back. She had not even been properly introduced to the alpha, yet, she was standing out alone with him in the cold evening air.

One thing was sure, she did not like him and she knew he did not feel different too..

But why had he ordered her to be brought to him?

Why had he made her travel all that distance from her pack to his, in the company of his guards.

Madison had hardly had time to make sense of anything when she was taken away, almost pulled by the neck.

"Why did you make them bring me here? What do you want from me?!"

She yelled at last.

"You raise your voice at me, do you realize that?"

"I am well aware and I demand an answer!"

"You do not get an answer from an alpha when you yell."

"Then I must return back to my pack this night. Your men must return me just as I had been brought here! "

She cried pleadingly. He shook his head as he looked at her in her vulnerability.

" Unfortunately, you can not go anywhere. You shall be spending the night with me in my chambers. " He took another step forward and was soo

n hovering over her.

" And I must kiss you now, Madison Roberts. "
