NOAH’S POV

“You’d do no such thing in my house, Roland.” Grandma Petal’s strained voice resonated around the walls of the hall.

Roland shut his eyes as he cursed in a low voice. His eyes snapped open, staring at me with anger, hatred and jealousy glimmering in them.

“Take a seat,” Grandma Petal, who with the help of her butler, walked towards her wooden throne-like seat. “Now!”

Roland took a step back and leaned closer as he whispered into my ear. “This isn’t over.”

I stared blankly at him because I knew for a fact he would never give up, not when his pride was on the line.

He found himself a seat, close to his mother and sister and then, the whole hall fell silent.

The power of a family matriarch.

“I heard the good news, Roland,” she started, her wrinkled face stretched into a proud smile. “You did a great job. I’m pleased.”

Roland smiled, a proud one at that as his eyes met mine. The fucker was in fact speaking to me with his eyes. ‘I’ve taken what’s yours once agai

NOAH’S POVWhatever it was that Arthur wanted to say to her, must have calmed her down, because here we were in the dining room, laughing and chatting.Sasha looked happy, relaxed and unguarded as she talked. Her voice sounded calm and collected, not calculating like it usually was whenever we were out with people.“So, Sasha, tell me, how are you enjoying being married to Noah Beck,” Elizabeth asked.Gosh this woman, if she had her way, she would have asked the both of us to fill.out a questionnaire.“It is fun, Noah has been the most delightful,” she replied.“I am still gutted at the fact that I wasn’t invited to the wedding,” she said, looking at both of us with a sad expression on her face.Sasha gasped, looking down in guilt, “We wanted a small private courthouse wedding. It was nothing fancy and you haven’t missed anything,”Elizabeth scrunched her face, “Nonsense, how can you have that. We need to plan something big, something that screams Luxury,”Sasha looked at me with a we

SASHA’S POVNoah has said nothing about the man that we were going to see. All I knew was that he had hurt Noah and his company and for some reason, he wanted to still be gracious and nice and honour his invitation.“You look like you are about to tear down his roof,” Noah muttered, staring at me with a soft smile on his face.Who wouldn’t look mad? This man had helped petal Conrad and still Noah accepted his dinner invitation. What if it is all a trap by petal, something to harm him with?“Noah, I know that I said I trust you. But I just can't get over the fact that he is friends with Petal,” I muttered.“And if I told you that they aren’t friends?” he asked, his eyes gleaming with mischief.“What?”“Sasha…”“Noah! Are you going to be in there forever?” a voice yelled out, tapping gently on the car window.Noah chuckled, pushing the car door open, “Hello aunty,”Aunt? What game was this? From a distance I notice Arthur King, standing with a smile on his face as he watched the whole i

NOAH’S POV“President Beck?” Matt called out, his voice snapping me out of my musing.“Matt, what is it?” I asked, gently shutting my phone off. I had been here, spending the last thirty minutes staring at a picture that had been taken of Sasha.“Is everything alright?” he asked, staring at me with a confused look on his face.I understand the look, it was quite unusual that he would find me distracted and smiling at my phone like the fairy of smiles had struck me.“The dinner reservation has been made and Arthur King and his wife are expecting both of you,” he said.I sighed, “Sure, pass the message on to Emma, we leave tomorrow,”I wasn’t a coward, avoiding her but lately, it is becoming hard to figure out what exactly I was doing with a woman in my house.Sasha wasn’t like other women that I had met, she has never asked me for jewels, and most importantly, the fact that she is trying to build her company without asking for my help. Most times, she confuses me. She isn’t what I once

SASHA’S POVWhat had just happened? My mind hadn’t stopped recalling what had happened at the gala event, Noah Beck had smirked as he bid for a date with me with such a huge amount.I had expected him to want the date tonight, but he had just kissed my hand and told me goodnight a she walked into his office. The back of my palm still tingled slightly, the point that he had kissed throbbing slowly.I blew a raspberry, my hands slapping my cheeks as I tried to rid myself of the memory that had gotten stuck in my head like it was on repeat. It was nothing, he was just trying to show the Conrads that he could take care of me.“Sasha, you are imagining things,” I mumbled, rolling over on the bed, the diamond chain digging slowly into my flesh, reminding me that after each event, I was stocking up my jewellery shelve slowly with diamonds. If this were the ancient times, I would have been competing with Cleopatra. The only difference was that I wasn’t sleeping with him…“No,” I literally his

ROLAND’S POVShe didn’t look pleased, I could tell with the angry lines that etched on her face as she paced around the room.I was angry too, but I hated the fact that Grandma had assumed it would be for the best for Noah and Sasha to be invited.“Can you believe it?” I scoffed, picking up a glass of whiskey. Today was a lot, and this was all I needed to feel the stress wear off. “Inviting the Becks to our wedding like they are some important dignitaries,”She didn’t respond, rather she glared at her phone like she was trying to bring it to life.“Maya!” I called out, my eyes fixe on her face. “You have been quiet for so long, shouldn’t you be happy? We are getting married, isn’t that what you have always wanted?”A humourless chuckle broke out of her, “What I have always wanted?” she scoffed. “Roland, you sat there, listening to her as she told us that we are meant to marry?”I frowned, I was losing her, and I didn’t understand what she was talking about. Isn’t this what she wanted?

AUTHOR’S POVThe car was in complete silence. Their faces were filled with various emotions.Anastasia blinked, her brain trying to restructure what she had just heard.“The wine must be getting to me,” she muttered under her breath.Eleanor’s face looked like she had been dealt a wrong card, “Petal… matriarch what?” she sputtered.“Tonight has shown me that the people don’t think we are that fearful,” Petal said, ignoring what Eleanor had just said.“She….”“Eleanor, this wedding will be the talk of the town, we need to remind them who we are,” Petal said, cutting her off.“But you said…”“Anastasia, do you want this wedding or not?” Petal hissed, irritated at the way she was being interrupted at each turn.“I do, Matriarch,” Anastasia replied in a low tone.Who would have thought that all it needed to change the matriarch’s mind was Olivia and her stunt to change? If she knew, maybe she would have done something about it.“Invite the Becks, and a few more dignitaries,” petal said, w
