ELSA’S POV

Rodriguez looked flustered. The expression on his face revealed his embarrassment. His lips parted while making a statement but the words stuck on his tongue.

“Anyways, be more careful with your lucid thoughts next time.”

His hand met his hair as he scratched while looking elsewhere.

“But what is this? You can hear my thoughts now?”

“Yes, whenever I choose to. I can communicate telepathically also. The pack rules bind you and you will suffer if you violate them.”

I turned to leave, and I had already taken a few steps when I noticed a looming shadow that stood above me. I turned back already knowing who followed me.

“Elsa.”

“Alex, you always pull up at the most unexpected time.”

His lips curled in an elated smile as he got closer, taking me in for a warm embrace. It was the same feeling I felt every time I was with him, each time I wrapped my arms around him, there was this feeling in my heart, like it shouldn't end.

But it always did. Incidentally, after thinking about this, he tore away from the hug.

“How have you been Elsa?” he asked, as lines suddenly invaded his forehead in concern.

I held his tender gaze with my eyes, his looks seem to improve the more I meet him.

“I’m okay Alex, you know, just surviving.”

“Yes surviving,” he repeated while suddenly crossing his arms and tapping his chin.

“There is no real threat confronting you here Elsa, no one is directly trying to face or kill you yet at least.”

I looked at him, and an amusing smile crept to my face. If only he knew. I wonder if I should tell him about my new pack member.

“Would you follow me, Elsa, I want to show you something.”

He still had the same standing position and I noticed the sudden eagerness in his eyes.

“What is it?”

“It's a secret just come with.” he attempted to grab my arm yet his hands met thin air.

“Hold on Alex can I meet you at this same spot in the evening. I need to settle something.”

“You know I would have appreciated you just saying that rather than showing me your reflexes,” he added an innocent smile revealing deep holes at both sides of his cheek. I caught myself staring dreamily at him.

“Never mind, let's go now.”

“Are you sure?” Why did you change your mind?”

“I realized now would be the best time,” I said brushing my hair aside.

“Okay. If you say so. Let's go.” This time he took the initiative. Leading at the front. We had gone back to the school building already, navigating deep past doors and halls. It had already been minutes since we last saw a person.

“Alex, where are we going? I've never been around this castle before. It's so big.”

“I know, we are almost there,” he said, in a whisper.

“Alex?”

“Yes.”

“How is your family? I know the war is still ongoing between the two great nations. I hope they are safe.”

He stopped and turned back looking at me.

“You don’t have to be worried about Elsa. My family is plenty strong, you’ve no idea.” He turned front and continued.

“I’m interested, I would like to meet your family someday.”

“We can do that. My uncle is the general of the army, a war veteran too. You won’t be able to meet him or else you want to go to the conflict region, where the fight is going on.”

“You should know by now that I don’t mind.”

I waited for a reply but got none.

“You don’t…”

My statement got interrupted by a harsh sound, which came from the door Alex just opened.

“This is it.” He wore a serious look on his face now.

“We have to hold hands, and whatever happens do not let go okay? No matter what.”

I felt hesitant at first to hold his hand. What if this is all a trap to kill me? What if he is siding with his sister trying to make the work easier for her?

I had to ask myself questions. How long have I even known Alex to trust him so much? And yet I felt safe around him.

“Trust me, Elsa.”

With that said I held tightly to his hands without a single doubt in my mind anymore.

I looked at what was behind the door and that was the last thing I saw… absolute darkness.

I could still feel Alex's hands on mine, but I couldn't see him, and that's okay as long as I could still perceive his scent, I was fine. After what felt like decades of darkness, we stumbled out onto concrete ground.

I managed to hold myself from rolling any further. Alex too had rolled a few paces from where I lay. We both got up gently. I couldn't understand what I was feeling from this place.

“Alex? Where are we?”

I asked this time looking him right in the eye.

“Why? Are you afraid?

I was a bit surprised to hear him say that. I tilted my head unknowingly asking again.

“Where are we?”

“Okay, fine, relax you like you're about to kill me,” he said, turning back and moving ahead.

“We are in the most sacred place in the world. This is the Alpha Sanhedrin,” he said, as we passed through another door.

What lay before my eyes was nothing more than magnificent.

“Isn’t it amazing?” he added, smiling sweetly at me.

There were so many huge statues, it was a very large spacious room we had just entered.

“There are only six ways to access this place in the world, and they are the alphas palaces, this ancient place connects to the five countries.”

“You said six, this means Sheffield Academy is the sixth.”

“Sheffield Academy, though not a kingdom, has a strong tie with the five nations and this place. It is believed that the alphas once all met at Sheffield Academy for important meetings long ago but, later on, they wanted to make it discreet so they connected the five palaces and Sheffield Academy to a hidden domain away from the eyes of mere mortals.”

The room was so large my eyes couldn't take all its beauty at once. There were so many great statues of past alphas in rows dating back millions of years. At the far front stood a round table surrounded by six chairs. The chairs had the crest of each nation except one.

Suddenly we heard a sound from the far right.

“Elsa, quickly, let's hide behind that statue,” he said, his hands already pointed in that direction.

“You finally figured it out. It must have been a hard puzzle to solve.” Ha answered, his sarcasm obvious in his reply.“I told you to watch your back, no one humiliates me that way.” He got up from where he was, forming another fight stance.“So what is this, revenge?” I asked, stepping closer. Rodriguez was no match for me, but I liked his resilience; he wasn’t one to give up easily.“How about a deal Rodriguez?”He raised the corner of his eye. He stared at me for a while. After what felt like decades he responded“What kind of deal?”“It’s simple, if I lose this fight I’ll do whatever you say.”“No. That won’t be necessary, I intend on killing you here.” He replied, waving my words away.“Yes, you could end my life if you want.”“And what’s in it for you?” he shifted his leg, adjusting his stance to look stern.“You’ll work for me.” “Girl, you have some serious guts. You'll meet the gods today.”“Are you afraid to accept?”“Hahaha, you know what? I accept your request. This just

“Isn’t that the level four student who was angry when you turned him down?” It was Oliver who spoke and he just revealed some interesting information while looking at Isabella.“I feel sorry for him, imagine getting turned down by Isabella,” Brad said, laughing. Richard bumped his shoulders saying“Oh come on, stop messing around, you know how much of a jerk Athelstan was to Isabella.” “What did he do Isabella?” I asked. I didn't want to look too interested in the topic, so I wandered carefreely.Isabella’s face contorted in an unsettling way as she recalled the story. “Athelstan approached me in the first week of school, he professed love to me stating it was love at first sight, he said he could feel our connection… that I was his mate.”Everyone fell silent as Isabella narrated her ordeal with Athelstan.“I didn’t want to sound rude, so I just told him that I wasn’t ready for that, I also emphasized that I was a fresher. Athelstan didn't take this lightly, he felt his ego was b

“What the hell, that was so gruesome.”“She would have just targeted the eyes.”“I hate to be that beast.”“I think it was Oliver that killed the beast.”The students had a lot of opinions about the fight, especially the ghastly death of the monster. Many were surprised by the unorthodox method I chose, to kill the monster. But I didn’t really care about that, I was just glad it was over.“That was a good one… wouldn’t you agree with me, class?”It seemed mica had a few things to say as she got up to her feet.“Agree with you? We almost died Ser, this was definitely beyond a Ravage tier monster.”“Yes. It most certainly was. For those of you looking to work for the guilds and become adventurers, do you think you’ll decide the tier of the monster you’ll encounter while in there? Werewolves have only covered fifteen percent of the Elshire forest, with so many mysterious and unknown creatures yet to be discovered.”He paused, his gaze turned to me suddenly, it was as though he was tryin

“Oliver, it's right behind you!” I screamed out, to Oliver. He jumped up avoiding the strike to the leg delivered by the giant spider.Just minutes ago we had discussed our strengths to devise ways to end it quickly. Oliver and Benjamin were placed as our offensives considering they were stronger.“I want to be on the offensive too.” I said out loud, deciding not to be quiet.“What? You wanna get yourself killed?” Benjamin replied, his eyes seemed to be weighing me. “Besides, we will really need you guys to back us up on the defensive.” He added.“Thelma, be on the look out for the weak spot, you might notice while we are attacking.” Oliver said, releasing what looked like a trident. It wasn’t a lycan weapon but I could tell it was lethal. The spider had already revealed itself fully now. It was tall, reaching half the height of the colosseum. “Woahh!” Mica exclaimed, dodging a web that came from its mouth. It roared in anger, going straight for her again. Oliver rushed in with his

“What did you just say?” Daniel replied with a raised brow.“I mean… I don’t know if I’m strong enough to take him out.”“That is your problem. Do not disappoint the alpha.”“What if I get killed or caught doing this task?”“Then you should be proud of dying for your Alpha. But if you get caught, you know better than to mention his involvement in it. I wish you the best of luck child, try not to die yet. You interest me.” He replied heading to the stairway.Great, now I’m tasked to kill an innocent person. I can’t do that. It just makes me part of the system I fight against. I didn’t want to follow the stairway so I used the balcony again, bringing myself all the way down. Jumping and sliding down different platforms till I was back in the hallway I took off from earlier.I just had a few minutes more before my lecture, I sprinted as fast as I could, I left the castle grounds in seconds, the lecture wasn’t held in one of the many spaces in the school, rather it was held in the school
