“What the hell, that was so gruesome.”
“She would have just targeted the eyes.”
“I hate to be that beast.”
“I think it was Oliver that killed the beast.”
The students had a lot of opinions about the fight, especially the ghastly death of the monster. Many were surprised by the unorthodox method I chose, to kill the monster. But I didn’t really care about that, I was just glad it was over.
“That was a good one… wouldn’t you agree with me, class?”
It seemed mica had a few things to say as she got up to her feet.
“Agree with you? We almost died Ser, this was definitely beyond a Ravage tier monster.”
“Yes. It most certainly was. For those of you looking to work for the guilds and become adventurers, do you think you’ll decide the tier of the monster you’ll encounter while in there? Werewolves have only covered fifteen percent of the Elshire forest, with so many mysterious and unknown creatures yet to be discovered.”
He paused, his gaze turned to me suddenly, it was as though he was trying to see the inside of me.
“You students did remarkably well. That was a newly evolved legendary tier monster.”
This raised a lot of gasps from the students, even I was a bit shocked. We all suspected it was stronger than a ravage tier monster, but no one expected it would be a legendary tier monster, these monsters are on another level of strength, they could destroy towns, a large number of powerful werewolves are needed to put such a monster down. Although, it has never happened that monsters attacked werewolves.
We are the apex predators, we built cities, countries, technology, schooling system and many others. Werewolves also like to hunt, discover and go on adventures, this is why many choose to become adventurers after the Academy. It is said that the five nations were also once part of the Elshire forest, our ancestors long before us explored as deep as they could into the Elshire forest unraveling phenomenons and fighting different species of monsters
It is rumored that there could be another country far beyond ours in the Elshire forest. But it has just been myths and speculations. I’ve never been there but I feel drawn to that place ever since I got this curse. Something just calls me there. I know I can get incredibly strong if I’m opportuned to be there…I just know it.
“Elsa?”
“Yes?” I was so lost in my thoughts, I didn’t know Oliver had been calling my name.
“Are you okay? You seem absent, Ser Godfrey is talking to you.
“Yes yes I’m cool.” I responded, adjusting my uniform.
“Elsa, that's your name. That was an interesting way of killing your foe. The normal means to kill such a monster, which I expected you students to follow, was through the eye, which Oliver did.” He said. Everyone responded with a howl, in respect to Oliver. It was a big deal to be given such an honor, werewolves respected strength and it has been part of our nature to always recognize those who display such.
Ser Godfrey hit his weapon on the ground, and it was met with absolute silence. “But the fact remains you killed that monster. I never said what the weak spot was, you clearly identified another weak spot and took it out.” The students started to whisper to each other. Clearly not liking the fact I was addressed as the one who took it out, but one thing was for sure, they knew it was i that killed it.
“You can all return to your seats, your gained marks will be added to your grades.”
Benjamin strode off his facial expression with one of sadness. He looked back again and muttered something that I couldn’t really understand but with the look he gave I think he was saying thank you.
Oliver, on the other hand, looked a bit annoyed. We had all gone back to our seats in no time, and the class went on.
“Students this is Sheffield Academy, only the best of the best can be here. What makes us different from Gomorrah or Brenton Academy? Did you expect it would be easy for you? No, of course not. If it were, then all others would have been welcomed to study here. You must always be ready for whatever is thrown at you here, and mind you… it is survival of the fittest. You might watch your friends die in the long run, do you think they would stop if they were in your shoes? No, of course not. They would carry on. Always have this at the back of your mind. The system will test you in every way possible. You’ll meet circumstances that would demand you sacrifice all. And you must succeed. Why is that?!”
“Because we are the best.”
“Why is that?”
“Because we are the best.”
I am now getting used to this, it seems every shitty professor or tutor here likes giving lots of pep talk especially after endangering our lives. But it is what it is. There have been many others before us who went through it.
“Elsa you were amazing out there.” Richard said, giving me a look that held no feelings. It was hilarious, how could he just make that comment with such a facial expression it’s like smiling while eating a sore meat.
“He is right Elsa, you killed a legendary tier monster, you’re already fit to be an adventurer.”
Mark added with a warm smile.
The class had ended and everyone was exiting the colosseum now.
“Hey, I need to ask you guys something.” I said, remembering the task given to me by Alpha Lucifer. I needed to know who this person was, maybe find out why The Alpha wants him dead. No matter what choice I chose to go with, I needed to know enough about Athelstan.
“Yeah? Sure, what is it?” Mark said, as the three of us got closer to the castle.
“Hey guys!!! Wait up.” It was Isabella and Oliver and they ran catching up with us in no time.
“Elsa you did amazing, and I’m happy you’re safe.” She added pulling in a surprising embrace. If this is all to make Isabella act this way maybe I’ll go up against more legendary monsters. She looked really happy to see me.
Oliver on the other hand remained silent, it was strange. I wasn’t used to seeing Oliver this way. He also avoided glances as we went ahead.
“Guys, do you know who Blodimir Athelstan is?”
“Isn’t that the level four student who was angry when you turned him down?” It was Oliver who spoke and he just revealed some interesting information while looking at Isabella.“I feel sorry for him, imagine getting turned down by Isabella,” Brad said, laughing. Richard bumped his shoulders saying“Oh come on, stop messing around, you know how much of a jerk Athelstan was to Isabella.” “What did he do Isabella?” I asked. I didn't want to look too interested in the topic, so I wandered carefreely.Isabella’s face contorted in an unsettling way as she recalled the story. “Athelstan approached me in the first week of school, he professed love to me stating it was love at first sight, he said he could feel our connection… that I was his mate.”Everyone fell silent as Isabella narrated her ordeal with Athelstan.“I didn’t want to sound rude, so I just told him that I wasn’t ready for that, I also emphasized that I was a fresher. Athelstan didn't take this lightly, he felt his ego was b

“Oliver, it's right behind you!” I screamed out, to Oliver. He jumped up avoiding the strike to the leg delivered by the giant spider.Just minutes ago we had discussed our strengths to devise ways to end it quickly. Oliver and Benjamin were placed as our offensives considering they were stronger.“I want to be on the offensive too.” I said out loud, deciding not to be quiet.“What? You wanna get yourself killed?” Benjamin replied, his eyes seemed to be weighing me. “Besides, we will really need you guys to back us up on the defensive.” He added.“Thelma, be on the look out for the weak spot, you might notice while we are attacking.” Oliver said, releasing what looked like a trident. It wasn’t a lycan weapon but I could tell it was lethal. The spider had already revealed itself fully now. It was tall, reaching half the height of the colosseum. “Woahh!” Mica exclaimed, dodging a web that came from its mouth. It roared in anger, going straight for her again. Oliver rushed in with his
“What did you just say?” Daniel replied with a raised brow.“I mean… I don’t know if I’m strong enough to take him out.”“That is your problem. Do not disappoint the alpha.”“What if I get killed or caught doing this task?”“Then you should be proud of dying for your Alpha. But if you get caught, you know better than to mention his involvement in it. I wish you the best of luck child, try not to die yet. You interest me.” He replied heading to the stairway.Great, now I’m tasked to kill an innocent person. I can’t do that. It just makes me part of the system I fight against. I didn’t want to follow the stairway so I used the balcony again, bringing myself all the way down. Jumping and sliding down different platforms till I was back in the hallway I took off from earlier.I just had a few minutes more before my lecture, I sprinted as fast as I could, I left the castle grounds in seconds, the lecture wasn’t held in one of the many spaces in the school, rather it was held in the school
ELSA’S POV It didn’t take long before I got back to the room with a big tray filled with meat. The evolution was extremely painful, I could remember literally tearing at my own skin. That wouldn’t be good in the middle of a battle, the enemy would quickly kill me. What was Alex even thinking, he almost got himself killed out there, if I had shown up a bit later than I did. It would have been an entirely different story. He looked so beaten up. Why would he risk his life that way for me? Well with the way I am now, I wonder if I could beat Salvatore in a fight. During the time I held his weapon when he was close to killing Alex, I was barely holding on. I’ve grown quite a lot but it still isn’t enough.“That was fast.” Alex said, as I entered the room.“Yeah, couldn’t keep you waiting.” I said, smiling back.He held his gaze at me for a while before turning to the food.“Alex If your sister comes in my way, I would have to kill her.”“With the way you’re right now, are you sure you
Could this be it? Would I really die this way? I recounted my past memories as the sword went down my throat. I ought to have been dead already… but I wasn’t. It was quite shocking to me that I could still breathe, I could still smell Salvatore’s scent, I could still feel the blood running through my body. I looked up now, I could see her, she held the blade firmly, I could sense the strength Salvatore used in that last attack plus the added boost of the lycan weapon, and yet she held it firmly. She looked a little different now, her jawline looked more defined, she had this look in her eyes that carried the weight of problems no one could understand. Her obsidian hair gleamed in the moonlight, somehow both darker and brighter now. Salvatore looked flabbergasted to suddenly see her holding onto his staff, he had already frozen on the spot, he stood afterwards returning the weapon to his dimensional ring.“Elsa, you’re okay.”“Yes I’m well now.” She replied. She looked at me with a
