Five

ORION'S POV

“ Is it confirmed that they are hiding something?” My beta, Vincent stepped back into my office.

Sharon only told me her daughter had a fallout with their previous alpha's son. She didn't tell me what happened and I didn't ask because I didn't want to hear it from her.

I already felt she was hiding something.

I inhaled Sharpy, her smell still lingering in my office.

“ She is,” I replied pulling a stick of cigarettes from the box on my table.

‘ Like mother like daughter.' my wolf hissed, not pleased that she didn't trust us enough to tell us everything.

” Why did you initiate her into the pack?” He asked and I looked up at him only for him to lower his head.

“ She is my fated mate,” I told Vincent and he parted his lips but nothing came out.

I was shocked as well.

“ What!” Vincent exclaimed in surprise.

For the past ten years, I haven't thought about looking for my fated mate even though it has crossed my mind a few times.

I have lived and ruled my pack without a mate by my side and suddenly a couple shows up with their daughter and funny enough the girl turns out to be my fated mate.

And my wolf was already insanely addicted to her.

” She is only eighteen, Orion.”

“ I know,” I replied, dropping the lighter on the table and leaning in my seat.

” She think is wolfless.” I added after a few pauses, and Vincent scoffed.” That is impossible.” Vincent said and I pushed smoke from my mouth.

” I know. I smelled her too.”

Her wolf.

I didn't know why she hadn't come out. I stared blankly at the couch where I had lay her. Her scent still lingered in my office like she was still here.

The scene of her walking into my office.

The way I cornered her the minute I sensed that she was my fated mate and how she avoided my gaze. All drawn on me at once.

“ Do you think she is scared of me?” I asked Vincent suddenly and he let out a sigh.

“ Everyone is.”

Of course, everyone was fucking afraid of me.

She definitely was afraid of me.

The scene of her lips clapping around the glass replayed in my head.

I grabbed the glass from the table and stared at it for a few seconds before closing my eyes and sending it close to my nose.

She smells perfect.

Vanilla and lemon.

“ I want to see her again,” I whispered but Vincent didn't make a sound. I fucking wanted to see her again.

It wasn't only my wolf that was addicted to her but I was as well.

“ It's not impossible but I don't think you should.” Vincent blurred out and I got up from my seat.

“ You think I will scare her even more?” I asked in a slightly angry tone.” No Alpha. I think she needs to recover from tonight.”

“ There is nothing to recover.” With that, I marched out of my office and shifted into my huge black Wolfe before running off into the woods.

My Wolfe, Xade sat on his two back toes while staring at the building ahead. He wanted to be near her and so did I. A slight growl slid out of my throat when I saw her walk to the window.

She was a fucking mirage. A goddess!

My eyebrows pulled together.

Her hair was white instead of black.

What the fuck!

I remember she had black hair when she came into my office.

My eyes turned cold. What the fuck was she hiding?

Suddenly I remembered Sharon's hesitation to let me meet their daughter.

What was she afraid off?

Xade growled wanting us to get closer but I didn't want to scare her. Nor did I want her to see me.

I wondered which one was the true her. The one with the black hair or the one with the white hair?

How much were they hiding from me? I mindlinked my beta to find out what happened at the Dawn pack before they moved into my pack.

I wanted to know what happened between her and Alpha Zion's son.

I felt they were hiding something right from the beginning but for her sake, I didn't want to dig out anything.

I wanted her to tell me everything herself but considering what I just discovered I want to know what happened and the real reason why they left the Dawn pack.

I think what she told me was just the surface.

Or maybe a lie to cover the real course.

Vito and Sharon should pray I don't find out anything because if I did I would forget they were her parents.

I watched her from where I sat. Her long white hair swayed behind her head.

Her eyes suddenly began moving around as if she felt a presence.

I wouldn't be surprised if she did.

She was a wolf and it was only natural that she feels it.

She retreated, closing the window.

Xade and I stuck around for a few more hours before leaving.

After what I saw I decided to keep her close and under my observation and by doing so I was going to add Vito to the patrol team which meant he would spend less time with his family.

“ What about Sharon?” Vincent asked and I leaned in my seat.

Sharon was the hard one but she would do as I say.

“ I don't know but I need her away from her for a while,” I said and Vincent let out a sigh.

I could do that without thinking but that would only scare her.

I didn't want to scare her. I wanted her under my close watch.

“ You think her parents know something regarding her shifting?” Vincent asked but I wasn't sure.

Sharon seemed to care about her. And Vito wasn't someone capable of hurting his own daughter.

“ I can't tell but I will find out,” I replied. Memory of her standing by her window with long white hair swaying behind her pulled forward making me want to see her again and again.

Fuck!

Was that how fated mate felt like?

She fucking lied to my face. Live in disguise like an undercover agent.

Was her name even Tia?

How much of what they told me was even true?

“ Why don't you take Tia away from her instead?” Vincent suggested.

I thought about it for a while and I think he was right.

“Prepare a room at the pack house,” I ordered.

“ Do you still want me to uncover the reason why they moved from the Dawn Pack?” Vincent asked.

Last night when I saw my mate who I thought had black hair standing by her window with white hair I finally confirmed my hunch.

The lie that I was told.

“ Don't. For now “ I told him and he nodded. I would give her a chance to tell me herself.

I wanted her to confess to me on her own will but I can't tell how long I would be willing to wait.
